Many of us use our DSLRs without knowing all of the powerful tools that are right underneath our fingertips. There are a plethora of settings that can completely change the mood, feel, and quality of our images. Join us as we dig deep into the many possibilities that our camera's settings have to offer. About our speaker: Joe Klocek is a photographer, instructor, lecturer, and studio consultant in Denver. He teaches for Mike’s Camera on a variety of subjects, wrote the instructional guide, “Macro Photography: Zero to Sixty”, and runs the business and website Camera Lessons Online, in his free time. During this field trip we will practice composition techniques using various camera angles and settings. Beginners to experts are welcome. Bring a DSLR camera, preferably with a macro lens. NO CAMERA PHONES for this particular event, sorry. Recommended equipment: External or ring flash, monopod, and garden knee pad. A Tripod might slow you down, bugs move a lot. Meet at the visitor center patio. $5.00 per car, or DBG annual pass required and you must be an SWPC annual member to attend. We will explore multiple flower gardens, searching for bugs, aka earth alien, to photograph. Please RSVP via on Meetup only to attend. If rain or extreme winds occur, this event will be canceled. Have you ever tried to take photos of hummingbirds before? It sure can be challenging to get them in focus! During this field trip, we will concentrate on shutter speed and other techniques to try to achieve the clearest images possible. This is a great exercise to master photographing fast-moving objects! Please bring a DSLR camera, preferably with a telephoto lens of[masked]mm. NO CAMERA PHONES for this particular event, sorry. Meet at the Discovery Pavilion at Audubon in front of the brick house. The parking lot is just north of the Waterton Canyon Parking lot. Please RSVP via this Meetup only. It is a free event but is limited to 12 club members only. Please join us for our annual picnic and shoot in Colorow Cave! To start out, we will take advantage of the beautiful natural setting in and around the cave to try our hand at outdoor portraiture. Several "shooting stations" will be set up where we will trade places shooting and modeling. To participate, please bring your camera, tripod, and external flash. We will also brainstorm for 2020 lectures/program ideas. Please come with a few ideas. SW Photo Club will provide hamburgers, brats, buns, and paper products. Please bring an appetizer, main dish, salad, veggie, or dessert dish that will serve up to 8 people.
