Title: Ancil Hoffman Park Loop Latest News: This event, by direction of the Nature Center, is now limited to a total of (25) Hikers. Do NOT sign up for this Hike unless you are sure you can make it. dp Type: Hike a loop Cool Features: Lots of wild life, nice river views and of course YOU! Description: We'll meet in the parking lot near the Effie Yeaw Nature Center and walk around the golf course,through the Game Preserve and back to our beginning point. This is a leaders choice hike by Dick Petruzzi. Dick is very familiar with the park and will select various routes to keep it interesting. There is a $5 Parking fee at the Nature Center. Seniors (60) can purchase an annual membership for $25 which gives free parking at the Park and Nature Center. Good option is to park on Palm or San Lorenzo and walk the 1/4 mile to the Center. This Hike will take place rain or shine and if the trail is muddy we will take an alternate route on the blacktop. Best time to visit: All Year Elevation Gain/Loss: Climb to 30 feet Altitude at Trailhead: 52' Terrain: Service Roads and Hiking Trails Distance:Your choice 2 to 5 Miles Difficulty Rating: Beginner, Intermediate "Rating Chart" ( Fitness Level: Able to walk trails for an hour without rest. Expected Duration: about 2.5 hours for the hike Special Skills Necessary: Patience and practice. Where to meet you: Please meet at Effie Yeaw Nature center Parking lot by 7:45 AM for check in. Depart: Promptly at 8:00 AM from Effie Yeaw Nature center Parking lot Type of travel: meet at trailhead Things to bring: Willingness to up your fitness level. Ability to find your way if the group moves faster or slower than you. Plus: Depending on weather conditions - 2 liters of Water, Snacks, Sunscreen, Bug Repellent, Appropriate footwear for safe travel on the surfaces of the hike (Hiking Trail). Our mission is to help you enjoy the sport of social group hiking. We want to help you hike and explore the Sacramento region as well as hike and explore state and national parks throughout Northern California. We are mainly a social hiking group. If you are interested in learning the sport of hiking or social group hiking, an outdoor lover who wants to take time from your busy life to get out in the woods, experience waterfalls, wildlife, amazing views, and meet new belong in this group! We do a variety of day and evening hikes suitable to different fitness levels both during the week and on weekends. Whether you are a Couch Potato Beginner or an Experienced Mountaineer you will have fun hiking with us. We like variety hiking and add specific interests to some hikes like photography, compass skills or birding and often end at nice restaurants, pizza parlors or with an occasional picnic under the stars.
