What we're about

This is a group for nature lovers in the greater Sacramento Valley area. We are hikers, trail runners, mountain bikers, equestrians, volunteers and Docents who love the lands that the Sacramento Valley Conservancy protects or is in the process of protecting. We LOVE and appreciate nature and these sensitive resources. Join us at Deer Creek Hills, Camp Pollock or Rancho Seco.

Due to registration limitations on Meetup, we often have outside registration links. Your RSVP on Meetup does NOT necessarily secure your registration.

Weeding Wednesdays

Camp Pollock

Camp Pollock Docents' weekly Weeding Wednesdays are underway! Let's get to work. This is a docent-only service day focused on the native plant garden, but volunteers interested in becoming docents can join.

Bring your own work gloves, mask, hand sanitizer, water and snacks. Remember to wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes, a hat, and dress in layers. A comfortable well-fitting mask is highly recommended to help prevent breathing in dry plant debris, especially since courtyard garden maintenance often includes raking and blowing dry leaves.

If you do not have a digital term waiver on file, you will need to print, sign, and bring a Release of Liability form (https://sacramentovalleyconservancy.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Adult-Release-of-Liability.pdf).

COVID-19 EXPOSURE AND ILLNESS PREVENTION

Review the most recent Sacramento County Public Health Order, the most up to date CDC recommendations and adhere to any other mandated directives for your place of residence as well as Camp Pollock (Sacramento County).

If you are experiencing any flu-like symptoms or have been in contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID 19 or experiencing these symptoms, please stay home. SVC has a lease to manage Camp Pollock until 2048… there will be plenty of opportunities in the future if you are unable to attend this event.

With the recent increase in covid cases in Sacramento County, SVC will be following the Sacramento County Public Health recommendations:

- Masks are required for everyone (regardless of vaccination status) while indoors.
- Fully-vaccinated Docents will no longer be required to wear masks outdoors, except during an outbreak or other narrowly-defined circumstances. BUT – before fully-vaccinated Docents shed their masks, SVC must document that they are fully vaccinated. Proof of vaccination can be emailed to [masked]
- Docents who are not fully vaccinated must wear masks while working with the public.
- Wearing a mask is voluntary for fully-vaccinated Docents. Vaccinated Docents who choose to wear a mask will not be retaliated against, nor will they be asked to explain their reasoning for choosing to wear a mask.

Please register on SVC's website (https://sacramentovalleyconservancy.org/events) by 6pm Tuesday, so we can plan our projects accordingly. Registrants will be notified by email if the event is canceled or modified.

For questions about the docent program, or to join our crew, please contact Carly at [masked] or[masked]. Questions about specific projects and on site logistics should be directed to Tim [masked]

Volunteer Thursdays

Camp Pollock

New and returning volunteers are welcome! Roll up your sleeves and make some new friends as we give Camp Pollock a little love. Thursday service days are best for returning volunteers interested in taking on more projects and learning about becoming docents, but everyone is welcome. Thursday tasks vary week to week depending on property needs, and may including planting, weed eradication, construction, cleaning, painting, digging, fence building, mopping, window washing, outreach, native plant propagation/maintenance, and more.

Bring your own work gloves, mask, hand sanitizer, water and snacks. Remember to wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes, a hat, and dress in layers. A comfortable well-fitting mask is highly recommended to help prevent breathing in dry plant debris, especially since fall workdays often include raking and blowing dry leaves.

If you do not have a digital term waiver on file, you will need to print, sign, and bring a Release of Liability form (https://sacramentovalleyconservancy.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Adult-Release-of-Liability.pdf)
