Machine Learning for Beginners (with San Diego Robotics Club)
Details
Late-breaking workshop!
In ONE WEEK—next Tuesday, 26 March, at 6pm—we're teaming up with the San Diego Robotics Club to give a free workshop on machine learning for beginners (using ml5.js and tensorflow.js). This will be a hands-on workshop, so bring a laptop if you can.
Seats are limited, so please RSVP with the San Diego Robotics Meetup!

(There are still a few spots, but please RSVP there instead of here!)
Machine learning is collection of methods to program computers to learn from data. Instead of manually programming many specific details about how to recognize certain inputs (from a webcam or a microphone or typed-in text), you train the model with examples of what you want, and it learns to recognize it. This approach can make it much easier to do things that were previously EXTREMELY HARD.
Additionally, machine learning can be used in the same way to generate art, based on examples, making a video look like a painting, or generating photos of people who don't exist. We'll talk about both the predictive and generative approaches, using the open-source Google framework called TensorFlow.
An engineer from Robolink will be also talking about Google's new Coral microcontrollers and Raspberry-Pi-friendly TensorFlow hardware accelerators, which let you use TensorFlow models in installations or robots without needing a full desktop computer.
Many thanks to Robolink for hosting! (https://www.robolink.com/)
Parking should be available in the lot around their building. As a heads-up, the building locks up around 6:15pm, so please arrive early or let us know you're coming and we'll give you a number to text for access.
Hope to see you there!
