Influencing Creative Decisions with Sound
Details
How great is our August meeting going to be? It's so great, we got audio guru Michael Cardillo to come all the way from Atlanta to present to our group. That's right - he's coming all the way out here to share some really great info with you all. What will you be learning? Glad you asked.
Whether you point a camera, create animation, write scripts or edit video, many of your decisions are heavily influenced by sound. Sound is an integral part of rhythm and pacing, and many stories are told primarily with the human voice through dialog or voice-over. Sound can also add authenticity and reality to the images we show our audience.
You may be very aware of light energy, but how about sound? Thinking about sound as energy across the frequency spectrum, dynamic range, sound field, and over time can influence creative decisions about emotion, pacing, and story. Attendees will learn to think differently about sound and allow it to influence creative decisions when writing, designing, editing, etc. They will be exposed to several methods of controlling sound energy including EQ, compression, ducking, multi-band compression, and newer active EQs.
Folks - you do NOT want to miss this meeting. This is such a privilege to have Michael out that we're going to be inviting the other local groups to join us. So plan on arriving a little early, and please, PLEASE RSVP so we know you're coming.
