If you're serious about your storytelling, you've come to the right place. We're looking for authors with fascinating stories which have characters with dire intentions running into daunting obstacles.
We are the NUMBER #1 location for author development in San Diego since 2009. A couple of the organizers were original members are award-winning authors with links to Hollywood.
We need your help.
Writing is not easy. In fact it is probably one of the most difficult vocations you can pursue. Critiquing is even harder. To be able to write well, and critique well, takes hard work and perseverance. A famous author once said, "Writing is rewriting." [Stephen King]
For each meeting, authors submit a chapter of their work via our DropBox three days prior to the meeting, hopefully placing the reader in the middle of the story (showing through layering of odors, sounds, and feelings within the POV), not just "telling."
Reviews are completed and posted prior to the meeting's DropBox. When we meet, that's when the magic happens ... the interchange between authors and reviewers. What the author saw clearly in their mind, didn't make it to the page or was confusing. Incredible insights and laughs have come from those moments as well as spectacular writing.
Meet your Organizers:
David S. Larson -- This award-winning author of the unpublished The Last Jewish Gangster (https://www.thelastjewishgangster.com/) will shortly see his project turned into a movie or TV show. He has numerous published works (including ghostwriting) of novels, memoirs, historical fiction (https://www.thejenningspapers.com/), and screenplays. Prior to deciding to pick up a pen, Mr. Larson spent a decade in the printing industry and then went on to turn global corporate marketing on its ear. He writes in most genres, rewrites, and edits full time and can help aspiring authors by combining his breadth and depth of experiencee.
Mike Gibbs -- This retired San Diego Police Sergeant just completed his second novel written for the YA Historical Fiction genre (mid-1700s American Indian plains tribe) -- High Plains Warrior Novels (https://www.amazon.com/Spirit-Wolf-Plains-Warrior-Novel/dp/1533108064/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1577847205&sr=1-2). Mike is a wilderness tracker (of both humans and animals) and is an amateur animal behaviorist and cultural anthropologist. His knowledge concerning military (he was a Green Beret) jargon and processes, police (36 years with SD PD) procedures, and a wealth of expertise comes in handy when writers are looking to put readers in the scene.
Well, that's the tip of the iceberg about us. We truly look forward to reading your work and getting to know you.
