Nathalie Mathé and Erica Layton will be teaching us about how to create content for AR/VR. Nathalie is a highly experienced immersive artist and teacher (most recently she worked with JauntVR), Erica is a newly minted VR creator. Three months ago she dove in and taught herself the basics. She will be talking about her process and her discoveries.

We'd love for experienced content creators and total newbies to come in and share a challenging, awesome learning experience.

All our meetups for the next four months will be educational. Don't miss these opportunities to find out how every part of this tech works and is created.

Erica Layton is a Bay Area transplant from the forests of Vermont. A sculptor by training and designer by trade, she set out last fall to teach herself how to make an experience for Gear VR from scratch, using the Unity 3D game engine. She'll describe her learning process, and try to convince you that with time, patience, and a ton of nerding out about awesome tech stuff: yes, you too can create VR games!

Nathalie Mathé has worked on more than 30 cinematic Virtual Reality projects over the past two years. She is a veteran artist and technology expert with more than 15 years’ experience in films visual effects, animation and interactive media industries. She now develops immersive experiences as well as cutting-edge creation tools for VR. She contributed to Zero Point, the first VR documentary made for the Oculus Rift headset by Condition One, and to numerous VR cinematographic projects, including "Paul McCartney in concert" and "North Face Climbers" as Director of Creative Technology at Jaunt.

After a successful career as a NASA research scientist during the 1990s, Nathalie became a documentary and an animation filmmaker. She then worked for major post-production studios in France, London and Vancouver. Her credits include Cannes award-winner Persepolis, Total Recall, The Dark Knight Rises, Skyfall, Les Miserables, Captain Phillips and Fast and Furious 6. Nathalie holds a Ph.D. in Computer Sciences from the National School of Space and Aeronautics in France, and an M.A. in European Media from the University of Portsmouth, UK.
