Plant Magic Treasure Book Class

Let’s bind a book together or use a ready made journal to honor the vast plant magic in our world. No knowledge or skills needed. Jennifer will guide us from selecting materials to binding books and filling the pages. Sessions will be via Zoom, and recorded and available throughout the duration of the class (and a few weeks after we conclude).

We’ll make our covers using fabric and a soft mailer, then bind in our pages and fill and decorate them together. The emphasis will be on honoring plants as the friends and helpers they are, and you are invited to interpret that theme in anyway you wish. You can directly emulate what Jennifer does or take a different direction and honor a single plant (eg lavender) or type of plants (eg the ones growing in your garden), a favorite tree of memory, or anything else you find joy in.

July 5th will be an optional prep day where you can join in person or watch via zoom to prepare and gather supplies if you wish. And if you can’t join or don’t want to, kits will be available for a low cost.

July 5th Prep Session will include:
-coffee dying
-gelli printing
-collecting scrapbook papers, book pages, vintage papers, fabrics, lace and trims
-botanical images
-soft mailers to be covered and used as the cover of the book
-readymade items from Jennifer’s stash

Kits will include:
-premade things from Jennifer: pockets, tags, strips, clusters
-botanical images
-fabric and a soft mailer to make the cover (or let Jennifer know if you want yours to come to you already assembled)
-coffee dyed papers
-scrapbook papers
-vintage papers
-lace and trims
-book plates and book corners

In addition to the items in the kit, you will need glue and scissors, things to play with like stamps and collage materials.
Jennifer recommends Scotch permanent glue stick AND Fabri-tac fabric glue if you plan to use fabric/lace etc in your journal. Needle and strong thread for binding your own journal.

You can absolutely skip making your own journal and use a ready-made journal. You can also skip the kit/ prep session and source your own materials.
