He started watching past sumo matches, and learning about the famous wrestlers who compete professionally in this amazing sport. There's a ton of sumo on youtube, but my favorite videos are the sumo digests put out by Kintamayama, who distills all of the long sumo tournaments down into 15-minute watchable short matches, where you can quickly learn the lingo and the various moves used by the wrestlers.
