Come into The Dancing Cat and try something a little different - Origami! With Denise Wang, of the South Bay Origami Group, learn origami, the ancient paper folding art which has long roots in both Japan and China. In the spirit of the season, put paws to paper with relaxed focus, gentle critical thinking, hand-eye coordination, and creative expression to create paper sculpture decorations - lovely for brightening up a home, and pet safe too! During this workshop, folders will be led through the basics of origami, and into a few spring-inspired sculptures for you to show off at home. This workshop is intended for folders 12-years old and up, and artists of all skill levels (from beginner, to more experienced) are welcome. You are welcome to bring a beverage or snack of your liking, or buy something from (and support) The Dancing Cat. Class fee: $30 per person Wifi, catnip, and kitty-critiques are on the house. Only 10 spots available, so sign up soon! About Denise: Denise used to fold traditional Origami models as a kid. In recent years, a series of incidental encounters re-connected her with this childhood hobby, and opened her eyes to the fascinating world of modern day Origami and the multitude of intricate techniques involved in paper folding. Since this reconnection, Origami has become a channel for her creativity, acts as a form of meditation, and become an unexpected platform for learning. Currently, Denise continues her Origami journey while teaching this incredibly fun art form to others.
Please visit to book: https://www.thedancingcat.org/events-registration/ It's an extra special game night at The Dancing Cat! Join our hosts Sterling 'Trap King' Davis and Adam 'Cat Man' Myatt for a fun and fur filled night of Cat Man Bingo! This special Game Night includes 90+ minutes of bingo, 3 cards with additional cards available for purchase, a non-alcoholic beverage (and BYOB), cuddles with a room full of adoptable cats, and last, but certainly not least, the opportunity to hang with a few of America's craziest cat dudes! The event will include *at least three* rounds of bingo, and each round will have three chances to win awesome prizes for you and your cat! >^.^< About Adam: Adam Myatt, the Cat Man of West Oakland, is an artist, musician, and co-founder of Oakland’s Cat Town Cafe, the first cat café in the USA. His compelling work photographing neighborhood street cats evolved into a life-changing dedication to our four (and sometimes three-legged) friends. After the amazing success of Cat Town, Adam turned his attention to advocating TNR in Oakland and beyond! About Sterling: Sterling “TrapKing” Davis is a well-traveled, ex-military, music and cat enthusiast. Becoming vegetarian after visiting a slaughterhouse at 12-years-old, the love and respect for animals has always been there but the relationship with cats grew to be particularly special. Working part time at a shelter cleaning litter boxes turned into a full time job doing education and outreach for TNR and community cat management. TrapKing’s mission is to change the stereotypes of not only men in cat rescue, but also bridge the gap in communication between black communities and animal rescue and local shelters in Georgia and beyond! Tickets: $35 per person, includes - three (3) bingo cards (additional available for purchase), three (3) rounds of games, and a non-alcoholic beverage. And, time to chat and take snaps with two amazing cat dudes! Seats: 20 seats will make this a full house! Snacks & Beverages: Its BYOB (or whatever you think goes well with a bingo card!).
