California is a great place to photograph. This group will take advantage of seasons for day and overnight trips around the state. Our groups will be small so that we can be mobile and can easily shift plans as conditions change. I'll try to arrange lodging for our overnight trips to keep costs down and to provide us an opportunity to process photos together. Any level of photography knowledge is welcome but please know your cameras or bring your manual.
I have 15 years experience in California and the resources to know where to go and when to take advantage of the seasonal opportunities. Interested in a particular place? Make a suggestion!
There are car shows, air shows, motorcycle shows, tractor shows, maker fairs, music festivals, food festivals, and living history festivals galore. Mix them all together in one venue on one day and you’ve got Half Moon Bay California’s remarkable, one and only Pacific Coast Dream Machines Show—marking its 29th year in 2019 with a massive celebration of mechanical ingenuity, power and style.
While I usually focus on nature here, this show is great fun and a good photographic opportunity for those of you who enjoy amazing machinery. Depending on who is around, maybe we pick a spot on the coast for sunset after. But the focus here is the engineering at some of it's finest.
Spectator admission is $25 in advance ($30 at the gate) for adults (age 18-64), $15 in advance ($20 at the gate) for ages 11-17 and 65 , Free for kids age 10 and under (with paying adult). If you have a machine to enter, then that is $40 registration. This is a really family friendly event so bring your little ones. Take them on a monster truck ride!!
