If bar falls for any reason, dog is eliminated, even if human error is the cause. BOBBING FOR TREATS- Dogs must place full face in large bowl of water to retrieve hot dog treat. This is a timed event. Fastest time wins. If your dog does not like hot dogs you must provide a substitute treat that will sink to the bottom. Dogs are eliminated if they dump the bowl of water or use paws to remove treat. BEST COOKIE CATCHER- 2 people per dog needed to participate. One holds dog behind the line, other tosses the cookie/treat provided by you. If dog catches treat he advances to next round. If no catch, dog is eliminated. MUSICAL SIT- One dog, one human. Treats are allowed, no pushing dog into sit, only ONE sit command. BEST LIMBO DOG– Dog has one chance to go under the bar at each height. Bar is lowered after each competing dog attempts. Bar can wiggle but not fall. BEST DOG HOWL O WEEN COSTUME- Best doggie costume. Decision up to judges discretion and audience influence. BEST SLED DOG CHAMPION- Dog with most combined points wins. Lots of sled training and some fun pulls around the lake. Bring a sturdy leash, an energized furball and wear some comfy running shoes. We will focus on sled pulling and wearing out the dogs for a fun afternoon. We'll have a raffle prize as usual and enjoy some social time. At every Meetup we have our Sandy Paws t shirts available for $15 each and X back harnesses, semi choke collars, belly bands, mushers belts, Sandy Paws Coozies and various sled dog bumper stickers. If you haven't paid your yearly $5 per family Club dues yet you can do that at the event. Ask Peggy if you aren't sure if you are due.
Pictures with Santa for all the furballs, holiday dessert potluck for humans and dogs, secret gift exchange game and then a run around the park with Santa! If you like to bake, please bring a people/and/or dog dessert to share and bring a "dog related" wrapped, unmarked, surprise gift to participate in the game. Bring your camera to take your own personalized pictures with Santa. We will not be printing out photos on site this year. We will be posting all photos on our Meetup.com and Facebook pages if you want to borrow pics from there. We do not charge for this event, but we will be having an amazing holiday raffle prize! This is a family event. Please bring everyone for a fun day! At every Meetup we have our Sandy Paws tshirts available for $15 each and Xback harnesses, semi choke collars, belly bands, mushers belts, Sandy Paws Coozies and various sled dog bumper stickers.
RSVP is mandatory! We meet to line up behind the Museum on Bayshore, Please arrive BEFORE noon to be able to park on the back streets behind the Museum. They will close down the streets at noon and you will have to park further away and walk to the Museum. There is NO PARKING at the Museum. You will need to sign the waiver for the city of Safety Harbor before participating. You can do that the day of the parade or at our November or December events. Address of Museum is listed above and you can mapquest it. We will be the last unit to go so we probably won't leave our setup area until around 1:30 so if you aren't there by Noon you can still come but be prepared to walk to the start. We are the LAST unit in the parade, right in front of SANTA so we are a very popular addition to this event. We will all wear red shirts and santa hats and we have holiday collars for the dogs. Please wear comfy shoes and be prepared for a mile + walk. We will have dogs on the gangline pulling the sled as well as some dogs walking beside greeting the crowd. This is a very slow paced walk. Be sure to bring dog water and treats, poopy bags, snacks and water for you, comfy shoes and your patience! We should be done by 2:30ish This is a family friendly event so bring your crew! See you at the parade. You MUST RSVP here so we know how many dogs are attending. Only dogs who have experience on the gangline will be allowed to be on the team that day. For day of help or info you can call or text Peggy at[masked]
