EVENT DESCRIPTION:
Listening to beautiful music, falling in love and eating really good chocolate create intense feelings of pleasure – but why? At this special musical Science on Tap, OHSU neuroscientist Larry Sherman, Ph.D https://www.ohsu.edu/people/larrysherman/02b1371a44e64745adee23343fdf439a will be joined by singer, songwriter and pianist Naomi LaViolette https://www.naomilmusic.com to present a fascinating multi-media discussion and concert on how the brain experiences pleasure. Diving into exciting new research – including what happens to the brain when love goes awry – and what we can learn from the monogamous prairie vole, Dr. Sherman mixes music, humor and neuroscience for an unforgettable, educational evening.
This Science on Tap event is in collaboration with the OHSU Brain Awareness Lecture Series. It will provide a sneak peek at information and music to be delivered at The Neuroscience of Pleasure https://www.ohsu.edu/brain-institute/brain-awareness-season
at the Newmark Theater on Monday, March 30. The OHSU Brain Awareness event will be an immersive musical experience with Dr. Sherman being joined on stage by the Portland Chamber Orchestra, featuring Naomi LaViolette, in a multi-media exploration of pleasure, love and the human brain. Please visit this link https://www.portland5.com/newmark-theatre/events/neuroscience-pleasure to purchase tickets to the March 30 event at the Newmark.
