We're a passionate band of designers dedicated to advancing the theory and practice of SERVICE DESIGN in Atlanta (and beyond). We build community through informal get-togethers, curated events, and on-going dialogue.
What's service design, you ask?
According to Service Design Network, service design is "the activity of planning and organizing people, infrastructure, communication and material components of a service in order to improve its quality and the interaction between service provider and customers. The purpose of service design methodologies is to design according to the needs of customers or participants, so that the service is user-friendly, competitive and relevant to the customers."
More simply put: service design is a shared language for helping people of all skills and backgrounds work together to create sustainable value for all service participants.
An informal gathering of service design practitioners and those interested in growing their service design knowledge/skills. Come grab a pint and learn about plans for building a more cohesive service design community in Atlanta and the Southeast.
This month we're at New Realm Brewing near Ponce City Market. They have parking!
Throughout the month of February, participants will be challenged weekly to take a deep look at the services around them. Each week on Monday, a few prompts will be sent out for the week. Participants will document services they encounter in day to day life that fit the prompts. We will provide an area on Google Drive for participants to submit their thoughts and findings.
If you are interested in joining, please send an email to [masked] from the account you'd like to use. We will add you to the prompt mailing list and Google Drive.
How the prompts will be released? We will be sending them out by email (and on Instagram) for all of those who would like to participate.
When to join? Get on board from the start of February or jump in any time throughout the month. Just let us know your email.
How to submit responses? Google drive - format agnostic, be creative!
How to ask questions? Feel free to start a meetup discussion. This is meant to be a collaborative activity.
Can there be teams? Sure! Come to our drinks event Jan 31, meet new people, and form a team.
In the beginning of March we will gather to discuss what we learned and celebrate our scavenger hunt victories!
