What we're about

Meet other active and outdoorsy singles near you!

PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY BEFORE JOINING OUR SIDETRACKERS MEETUP GROUP, especially the last paragraph about "membership" in our Meetup group and "membership" in the Sidetrackers club.

Trip and activity details can be found here on Meetup. We do have a very detailed club web site at http://www.sidetrackers.com that has some very good information about past events and How To's if you would consider hosting an event.

SIDETRACKERS is an outdoor activities club for single people in Jacksonville and Northeast Florida. We've been around for over 20 years and offer high-quality experiences for singles who genuinely enjoy outdoor activities and who would like to meet like-minded single activity partners. Club events are mostly oriented towards outdoor activities and may include camping, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, cycling, sightseeing, ziplines, hang gliding, marksmanship, and horseback riding. Activities are varied and provide opportunities for a wide range of interests, abilities, and skill levels. Membership and participation in our singles club also provides opportunities to develop and refine outdoor leadership skills. SIDETRACKERS in Jacksonville is the place for active singles!

Visit our web site at http://www.sidetrackers.com .

Even if you don't live in or around Jacksonville and are looking for high-quality singles activities, you can still participate with us. Use our calendar of events and activities on MeetUp, find out how to sign up for trips and events, and even apply to become a member. It's easy, and it's all online at our main web site - http://www.sidetrackers.com . We would love to have you visit or join our club.

ABOUT "MEMBERSHIP" IN OUR GROUP: Meetup membership is free and open to all, however some Meetup members elect to "join" the Sidetrackers club in order to help defray the costs involved in running Sidetrackers. For example, we incur expenses to maintain our web site and we also buy and pay for a supplemental medical insurance policy. Club membership is ridiculously cheap for one year - $15 - and in exchange (and also as a reward) for helping pay for our expenses, club members are invited to a few special "members only" events where the club may pay for some of the food. If you elect not to join the club, you're welcome to participate with us, but please respect and understand this arrangement within our club when you see two or three "members only" events each year. This way of running things has been in place for many years and it has worked very well for everyone.

We hope to see you soon!

Withlacoochee river and Ichetucknee kayaking/tubing and camping 3days 2 nights

This paddling trip will be about 3.8 miles with shuttling the vehicle's from the put in at a public boat launch north of Madison Blue Springs State Park to another public boat launch south of the State Park. This event will be for those early risers because of the driving time involved as well as time involved to shuttle the vehicles to the put out location, so keep that in mind. The trip will travel past several springs ranging from magnitude 1 to 3 which will give us a chance to cool down and not wither in the heat. We will definitely stop at Madison Blue Springs state park as well as Pot Springs and Mad61 magnitude 2 springs. The water levels have been up and down and depending on how low the water is ,there will be some skinny water and more manageable shoals to deal with. Kayak rentals will be thru Suwannee Canoe Outpost and they say they can drop off and pick up kayaks for $40 a person if you don't own or care to bring your own kayak. After the paddling, we will send back vehicles to retrieve and load up the kayaks, we can go into Madison Florida to get a bite to eat and then head to our overnight camping spot for two nights near the Ichetucknee River State Park. The Ichetucknee Family Canoe and Cabins has campsites and small cabins with air conditioning, and there's also rentals for kayaks and inner tubes, and they are located at the South entrance to the state park. As of this writing the state park is allowing kayaking with the tubing but is subject to change. If you plan on reserving a sleep only cabin with air conditioning, do it ASAP because only a few to pick from. Cabin sleeps 4 to 5 folks. Bring your sleeping bag or own linens. They ranged from $60 to $75 a night. We're staying 2 nights and campsites are $32 a night so snooze you lose. Sunday morning we'll head out early to tube or kayak Ichetucknee. The park regulates how many folks get in and social distancing is in effect. Afterwards we can head into town for a bite and chill out for the evening. Maybe do a short hike.
