Candlelight Tour of Fort Clinch

Sat, Mar 4, 6:20pm, Candlelight Tour of Fort Clinch (Open to Sidetrackers paid members only), (Actual tour will start at Sunset—around 6:30 – 6:50 PM)

Participants limited to 35. PLEASE PUT YOUR NAME ON THE WAITING LIST. Only Sidetrackers paid members will be transferred from the waiting list to participant list. Soldiers will be guiding the group with lanterns. This program will allow visitors to interact with living historians to experience life in the fort as it was in 1864. The only lighting available back then was lanterns, candlelight and campfires. The grounds will have soldiers in period costumes involved in demonstrations and displays including: marching drills, cooking, sleeping quarters, medical facilities and disciplines and daily activities. Ladies in their dresses, sutlers displaying their wares. A sutler or victualer is a civilian merchant who sells provisions to an army in the field, in camp, or in quarters. Come join in this unique, family friendly event. Wear casual clothing and good walking shoes. Bring a bottle of water and snack. The tour will last 1 ½ to 2 hours.

There is an entrance fee to the park of $6.00 per vehicle or $4.00 for single occupant vehicle. The fee for the Candlelight Tour is $3.00 per person.

After the tour, many will choose to get a bite to eat in the beautiful town of Fernandina. We can discuss that evening which restaurant most will want to try.
