Our investor panel will discuss the latest trends in startup funding. Pre-selected entrepreneurs in the formal line up will then pitch to our investor  panel, followed by questions and feedback from the panel.

Audience members (even those who are not pitching in the formal line up) will benefit from the insights offered by the investor panelists .  All attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the Silicon Valley startup investment ecosystem. All attendees will have an opportunity to interact with investor panelists during the networking portions of the event.

After the formal program has been completed,  there will be an informal "speed pitching" session that will allow for all attendees to talk to investor panelists directly.

Ivy Nguyen is an investor at NewGen Capital, a VC firm based in Palo Alto investing in technologies that will power the next era of innovation. Her recent investments include ZeroDB and Constructor.io.

Prior to joining NewGen, Ivy managed a leading cleantech accelerator. She is active in the sustainable tech community and advises several companies in water tech and sustainable tech.

Ivy holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Stanford University.

 

Ed Fernandez is a seasoned mobile industry veteran with more than two decades of experience combined. Member of the Young Presidents' Organization, a worldwide non for profit association of leaders and entrepreneurs under 45.

He is Partner & Co-founder of Naiss.io, a venture capital boutique in Palo Alto, focusing on technology based start ups and early stage companies, preparing them for M&A and IPO in alternative markets.

As a VC practitioner he started in 2012 as investor and venture partner in a $10MM Start Up venture fund with 12 companies in portfolio. He is board observer & advisor to some of them.

Ed's first computer was a Commodore 64 back in the 80s, a 64Kb RAM machine running on a 1 MHz CPU. Avid assembler programmer he became an amateur hacker at that time.

Ed lives in Palo Alto with his family. He is mission driven, and a parallel multitasker with nerd traits: curious, ENTP, self-made, resilient, highly functional and finisher of Madrid's marathon (all a euphemism for modern ADHD).

 

Monali Jain is an angel investor focused on the aerospace industry from drone  aviation to space travel. She is currently an active member of Space Angel Network and Harvard Angels. She has 19 years of experience in developing and launching highly scalable, highly profitable Internet software products and services. She has held leadership positions at Paypal, eBay, Interwoven(HP), Good Technology(Blackberry) and GE with global responsibilities.

Monali also loves to travel and has visited 23 countries. She successfully and safely led climbing expeditions to Kilimanjaro (Roof of Africa), Aconcagua (the highest mountain in the Western Hemisphere) and Machu Pitchu (Peru).

Monali holds  an MBA from Santa Clara University.  She is pursuing an aviation management certificate from Stanford University and a doctorate in business administration from California Southern University which is  located in Irvine, California.

 

Ross Johnston is a pioneer in the data storage industry with experience ranging from mainframe machines to PCs at Control Data, RCA, Seagate, Hyundai and Startups.  Ross served as CEO of a Hyundai subsidiary, VP of Engineering at Seagate, and CEO of 2 startups R-Byte and CSSI.  Computer Storage Services, Inc. (CSSI); a company predicated on the idea of extending successful repair and service practices and technology into the data storage and information technology markets.

A Keiretsu Forum investor and a corporate mentor, Ross co-founded DiskCorp to implement refurbishment for the Information Technology industry. Ross is a recognized corporate growth enabler in the very competitive data storage industry, driving rapid expansion in international Fortune 500 companies, as well as in start-up environments. His experience has afforded him deep insight into life cycle development (design, delivery, positioning,) of award-winning, landmark data storage products and services that lifted companies to record levels of revenue, market share, and industry recognition.

Ross holds a B.S. in Engineering, an M.S. in Engineering, and an MBA.

 

Allan Young is currently founder of TopLine, a technology and business incubator in Richmond Marina Bay near UC Berkeley.  Previously, he founded Runway, another technology incubator in the heart of San Francisco.  Before that he cofounded a company backed by Y Combinator.

Allan has experience as a venture capitalist as part of a small group of students that launched a venture fund managed by undergraduates.  That portfolio yielded 4 IPOs and generated to tier returns for investors.  Allan is also currently a venture partner with Piedmont Partners Group Ventures, a late stage private equity firm

 

André Guéziec is an angel investor, entrepreneur and executive with a unique combination of product vision, technical depth, and start up expertise. His passion is to build a quality product and experience from the ground up.

André founded Beat the Traffic (nicknamed "BTT") in[masked] and successfully sold it to a Canadian media group, Pelmorex (The Weather Network and MeteoMedia) in 2012. The Beat the Traffic system is used by 60 TV stations in many large North American cities. Beat the Traffic is also a popular Smartphone App, consistently in the top 10 in its free navigation category. André started BTT and, as its CEO, grew it to a profitable business with original and defensible Intellectual Property, and an excellent team. In addition to being an angel investor he is also an advisor to technology companies. His sweet spot is to be the catalyst in early stage opportunities where it also makes sense for him to actively participate in an advisory role.

Earlier André was Senior Software Engineer and Architect at Multigen and Borland.  André started at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center and has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Univ. Paris 11, and a MS in Economics from Univ. Paris 11 Sorbonne. André also holds a MS in Engineering from Ecole Centrale Paris. He has published about forty peer-reviewed papers, journal articles and book chapters and is an inventor of about 25 U.S Patents.
