My favourite event in summer starts again. Swing in the park is brought to you by Swing It Brussels and we'll be at Park George Henri this Thursday at 6pm. We are having the warm up party and I'll definitely be there. There's loads of jazz music, awesome dancing and unforgettable fun. You can find some photos of our past years' editions at: https://www.facebook.com/sibswinginginthepark/ The specific event is: https://www.facebook.com/events/297496994490630/ On the logistics side, I'll definitely be there at 6pm looking to dance. Come by, say hi and join the group. I can give an introduction to the dance if you are interested. I won't propose a specific place to meet since it's a fairly small and open tent but if you really cannot find me, do send me a message or call me at[masked]
Serve The City Brussels is an organisation focused on giving back to the community. One thing I really like about it is that they provide concrete volunteering opportunities where you can get your hands down and dirty. http://www.servethecity.be/brussels/ The direct registration link for the next Big Volunteer Day is: https://www.servethecity.brussels/events/may-big-volunteer-day/ Their next monthly meeting is on the 25th of May at 11.45am. It starts off with an introductory talk about the organisation, what they do, who they're helping. There's usually a theme associated with each monthly meeting, two months ago when I was there they were focused on trafficked women, and there was a month where they talked about providing clean water for villages in Mali. Everyone and anyone can contribute in their own way, depending on your own set of skills and who you'd like to help. You can help entertain orphans or serve food to the homeless. If you're interested in volunteering, it's best to come down and at least sit in for the introductory talk (It's in English) and decide for yourself. Everyone I've met there is nice, friendly and always comes with a big heart. Feel free to post below, or send me a message if you have any questions. How: First off, here's my number -[masked]. I suggest to meet directly inside the place. If you can't find me, just send me a message or whatsapp me and I'll be sure to answer. If you want to join my project (helping out at a woman's shelter) you can put my name during the registration.

Let's continue the tradition and play UNO, everybody is welcome :) We'll be playing at the lobby of Aloft hotel. The address of the hotel is: Place Jean Rey 3, 1040 Bruxelles, Belgium My number is[masked]. Feel free to call if you cannot solve a physics question, cannot find the place or simply need a hug. I have quickly written a set of rules on how we play. It is assumed that the reader has a basic concept of the game. ------------------------------------------------ Setup: - Each player starts with 6 or 7 cards each (depending on total number of players) - A card is shown in play in the middle of everyone, this is known as the top card. Goal: - The goal of the game for each player is to get rid of all cards in your hand Rules: - Whenever you go from two cards to one card, you have to say "UNO". - Each player takes his turn one by one, initially going in the clock-wise direction - A card may be played if it matches the same colour or same number or same type as the top card in play - The two black cards (Draw 4 and Wild) can be played regardless of the top card in play. - Interruption rule: You may interrupt the general flow of the game (clockwise or counter-clockwise) if you have the EXACT same card as the top card in play. If you manage to play the card prior to the person whose turn it's supposed to be, then the game continues on from you in the same direction it was previously. (Unless the reverse card was interrupted, then the direction changes). - Draw2 or Draw4 cards can be played in accordance to the interruption rule. The following person after the interrupt has to take the accumulated number of cards. If however, cards have already been drawn AND seen by the person who was supposed to take the cards, then only the remainder of cards has to be drawn. - Once someone has no cards remaining in his hand, play stops and we start counting points. Points: - Number cards have the face value as the number of points. i.e. number 6 is worth 6 points, number 0 is worth 0 points, number 4 is worth 4 points. - Skip, reverse and Draw2 are worth 20 points each - Wild and draw4 are worth 50 points each
