What we're about

This is a gathering for those interested in Manga (Comics), Anime, Games, Cosplay and Japanese Culture in general for Singapore. The intention is to find others who share similar hobbies and across related domains.

For Manga (Comics), Anime and Cosplay enthusiasts, activities include comic meet and draw sessions, anime showcases and cosplay photography sessions. For those able and willing, we can look forward to organising dates and trips to local as well as overseas conventions (e.g. Comiket, Wonder Fest).

For Gamers, the focus for this meetup is on tabletop games (such as card games, board games and related activities such as RPG sessions and LARPs) rather than video, console, computer and mobile games.

Last but not least, the purpose of the meetup is to meet like-minded people and make new friends. We hope that you will enjoy yourselves!

Party of Fives: Boardgames Beyond on Sundays

The TKG Comic Circle

A$10.00

Welcome to the Party of Fives Meetups!

If you are a gamer who wants to go beyond the usual PARTY gaming fare at boardgame meetups and cafes, this is it!

We don't usually play Cards against Humanity, Exploding Kittens and Unstable Unicorns. That's just us. Make us play if you can.

We will be playing an assortment of board games ranging from light strategic kinds to heavy thematic ones. Games we usually play range from light ones like Azul, Splendor, Jamaica to medium ones like Yokohama, Endeavor and Nippon and of course heavy ones like Twilight Imperium, Gloomhaven, Tainted Grail and Kingdom Death Monster!

Do not be surprised if you see us painting miniatures or are engaged in some sort of insanely time-consuming enhancements towards our game elements in our games. Everyone get their kick in different ways. :) Painting groups are also in their groups of fives ...

For the game designers out there, just tell us that you are a creator when you see us and we will have our own private creative sessions mapped out in a feasible way. Most others don't care so we should not disturb the force unnecessarily.

We will contact you when you sign up and place you into appropriate messaging groups with different needs to facilitate further communication. Total noobs are totally welcome!

While we don't serve food ourselves, we are smack right in the middle of the legendary Golden Mile premises with an huge range of eateries from super curry puffs, loud Japanese izakaya food, heavenly chicken rice with steamboat, hellish black burgers and authentic Thai food that is just sick. All within a pebble's throw away.

Tea and dinner sessions (at our own expenses) usually follow the gaming sessions according to our designated groups. Due to the current Covid-19 and social distancing restrictions, you are not allowed to join us for these food consuming sessions only. For your understanding, please

Call for Heavy Board Gamers: Gloomhaven

The TKG Comic Circle

A$10.00

This is it. Hardcore.

For gamers who have alternate lives in parallel worlds.

Gloomhaven - A fantasy-themed, campaign-based tactical skirmish game, in which players try to triumph in combat-based scenarios which scale in difficulty depending on the number of players. The game is cooperative and campaign driven, with 1 to 4 players working their way through a branching story consisting of almost 100 scenarios. The campaign develops in a legacy format, with stickers that are placed on the board and cards and sealed envelopes that are opened when certain criteria are met.

While it has drawn comparisons to role-playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons and other dungeon crawl board games, Gloomhaven uses game mechanics similar to modern eurogames.

This is part of the Party of Five: Boardgame Beyond on Saturdays/Sundays so do remember to sign up on both meetups as we need to ascertain who is coming.

The cover charge is for entry and if the Gloomhaven session did not happen due to a lack of attendees, then feel free to join the other games around in Party of Five: Boardgame Beyond on Saturdays/Sundays. There will be no refund.

Going forward, please note that you may be barred from further sessions without warning if you are deemed to have been cancelling your RSVPs at the last minute frequently. This is just a call for basic courtesy and respect.

We do welcome others to spectate and learn as we are unlikely to teach the game in a full session, but we can allow co-playing as long as we do not contravene the rules for social distancing enforced by the law.
