Singapore Video Technology presents the first meetup of the year in 2019. (and first Singapore Video Meetup Ever)!

The group is meant solely for the purpose for creating an engaging community across the video industry in Singapore. It's thrilling to see so many video techies already joined this community and we can't wait to meet, share and learn from you - the pioneers of online video in Singapore.

Presentations:

a) Pandu Kumar (Multimedia Software Engineer, Viki Inc. (https://viki.com)):

Showcases implementation of content aware encoding with open source tools. In this presentation; Pandu will explain how to develop a system for content aware encoding using open source tools like FFmpeg, libx264 etc. Implementing this has dramatically saved bandwidth and significantly improved user experience. Per title encoding should be available to anyone, right?

Viki Inc. is a Singapore based streaming company. Viki was founded in 2007 and was the first platform for real-time subtitling and sharing of videos of all content types. Following the acquisition by Rakuten Viki went from about 22 million monthly active users with 10 million on mobile to 35 million monthly active users and 25 million mobile users.

b) Lars-Erik Ravn (Founder and CEO of Movi Inc. (https://movi.ai)):

Showcases the key components of current video players, how a player pipeline functions and what is the reasons for a rewrite of the player from scratch in C++. Lars-Erik will explain why and how a video player needs to change to enable interactive and creative video experiences, in line with next generation content and user-experiences.

Movi Inc. is a Norway based video player company. Movi was founded in 2014 and was the first cross platform player for real-time interactive playback experiences for Live and On-Demand video streams.
