Burstall is a nice place to be in summer or winter. Snow make it more challenging.

Starting from the Burstall day area (the South side of Chester lake Parking).

This route is ...... well there is NO route. We'll take the trail from time to time but it is planned as an Off Trail snowshoe trip for the whole day!

Some route finding skills will be necessary.

Be prepared to "loop around"

Be prepared to have fun.

Between 12 to 18kms and about 500m or 600m elevation gain.

This trip is suppose to be 15kms and 470m elevation in summer but hey, you know me!

We should be able to make it to the pass, again, it will depend of the snow condition, avalanche condition and weather. (and how many times we get lost)

Don't make plan, as I have no idea at what time we'll be back to Calgary!

This is a strenuous trip as we should break trail depending on snow condition but expect a good work out.

NO BEGINNERS, must be fit and understand the meaning of "crazy snowshoeing"!

The plan is to stay together as a group and do what the group decide!

Gas fees are $20 per passenger for this trip.

Please, allow yourself to be 15min early at Shouldice!

Gear recommendation:

Snowshoes. Hiking/trekking/ski poles. Warm waterproof boots. Appropriate winter clothing piled on in layers so you can de-layer as required should be quick/easy drying breathable clothing(Try to avoid cotton especially jeans). Water/snow proof pants (remember Sherbrooke lake!) Gaiters Food and water for a long day (something hot like soup, tea, hot chocolate...granola bars). Please, plan for snacks too! I am not a guide so everyone coming should do their homework and be able to help in navigation.
