Is It Possible To Overcome Our Biases?

There doesn't seem to be any way to get around it...we see the world through unique lenses. These lenses are shaped by our upbringing and personal experiences that have had a profound influence on us. In some ways, this can be a strength. We may see truths that no one else can see. But it can can also be a weakness. We may fail to see or acknowledge things that are true for a variety of reasons. When something seems to conflict with our understanding of how we see the world, our natural impulse is to find a way to get rid of the conflict without making any adjustments to our lens. But despite the danger that this can potentially be, it happens for reasons that are understandable. Adjusting our lens can be mentally painful, undermine our identity and sense of self, or even lead to us having to end important friendships and associations. Is it possible to overcome these things and seek the truth consistently? Join us for what I believe will be another fantastic discussion, but then again, I'm biased.......
