About us
## What We’re About
This group is for anyone interested in creating and sharing art.
All mediums are welcome—charcoal, watercolor, oil paint, and more—and all skill levels are encouraged to join. Whether you’re just starting out or have years of experience, you’ll find a welcoming space here.
Our events include a mix of outdoor painting, life drawing, portrait parties, and photography sessions. Locations vary from San Francisco in the north to Monterey in the south, offering inspiring backdrops for creativity.
### About Dues
I’ve recently started collecting dues to help cover Meetup.com’s fees and to keep the group focused on active members.
If you’d rather not use Meetup.com for payments, that’s no problem. You can pay via Venmo or PayPal at **kmacinto@gmail.com**, or in cash at an upcoming event. If you need another option, send me a direct message and we’ll work it out.
### Workshops & Community
I try to host a few painting workshops each year, but most events aren’t formal classes. Think of this group more as a social community of artists who enjoy creating together. That said, if you’re ever stuck, need a critique, or just want advice, feel free to ask. We have a wonderful mix of experienced artists who are happy to share knowledge.

Fall is the best time for the California coast, lets check out the New Brighton State Beach.

Brighton State Parking Lot — 1500 Park Ave, Capitola. This is the main day-use lot for New Brighton State Beach, right by the park entrance.
California State Parks currently lists a $10 vehicle day-use feeRestroom — 1516 Park Ave: this is the most convenient restroom for the day-use beach area, near the main parking lot.
Feel free to find a spot to paint when you arrive. I have not been there, I am not sure where will I be. I may post the message once I settle to one spot.
Show and tell: TBD. It depends on the participant. Some may want to keep painting till afternoon. What to bring
• Art Supplies – Bring all of your own art supplies for whatever medium you are using (paints, drawing supplies, surfaces, brushes, water containers, cleaning supplies, etc.). If you're new and have questions about what to bring, feel free to post in the comments or send me a message through Meetup.
• Easel – If you're painting, please bring your easel. I do have an extra French Easel, a Gorilla Painter Pochade Box, and tripod that I'm happy to lend for the day. Just let me know in the comments beforehand so I remember to bring them.
• Outdoor Wear – We'll be outdoors for most of the session, so dress in layers and bring a hat, sunscreen, and comfortable walking shoes.
• Snacks/Food – Please bring any food or drinks you'll want during the event.
• Chair (Optional) – If you prefer to sit while creating your art, bring a portable chair or stool.
• A good test to make sure you have everything you need is to set up and paint in your own yard for three hours. If you have everything you need there, you'll have everything you need for this event. 🙂Extra Info
• We'll be painting in a shared public space. Visitors may stop to watch, ask questions, or compliment your artwork. It's one of my favorite parts of plein air painting, so please be friendly and welcoming.
• Please be respectful of the horses and riders. Avoid blocking pathways, gates, arenas, or barn entrances, and give horses plenty of space if they are moving through the property.
• Observe any posted signs and stay out of areas that are marked as private or restricted.
• Empty any painting solvents or dirty watercolor water off-site.
• Please pack out everything you bring, including trash.
Looking forward to seeing everyone! Also, check out our social media below.

Long Pose Figure - Jennifer Jones ($20 event fee)
Linn Studio, Santa Clara, CA, USTonight’s model: Jennifer Jones
Format: Long Pose CostumeJoin us for an evening of figure drawing and painting in Santa Clara. This session will feature a Costumed/Dressed model holding one long pose, with regular breaks throughout the evening.
A long pose gives artists plenty of time to develop a more complete drawing or painting. Artists of all experience levels and working in any medium are welcome. The model will hold the same pose throughout the session, with a five-minute break after each 20-minute posing period.
If you haven’t attended a life-drawing session before, it’s exactly what it sounds like: a model will pose while we do our best to capture their likeness using our preferred mediums, such as paint, pastels, charcoal, or pencil.
This is an uninstructed session, not a class or workshop. The event fee covers the model and rental of the space. What to Bring
The venue provides chairs, tables, drawing horses, tabletop easels, and H-frame easels on a first-come, first-served basis. Please bring any other art supplies you need and take everything with you when you leave.
Oil painters may use odorless mineral spirits only. Please do not bring turpentine.Cost: $20
You may pay with cash at the event or electronically through Venmo or PayPal at kmacinto@gmail.com. If paying electronically, please include your name in the note. I’ll collect any outstanding fees during the first model break.Space is limited, so please RSVP as soon as you can. If you’re unable to attend, update your RSVP so someone from the waitlist can take your spot.
