What we're about

This group is for anyone who is interested in creating art. Our roots are plein air (outdoor) painting, but all mediums are welcome and from time to time we'll post indoor meetups especially when it's raining or too hot to paint outdoors.

We will meet at designated times and locations throughout the week. Locations such as the beach, bay lands, farms, parks, coffee shops etc.. At the end of our sessions we will gather to share our art with the group.

Looking forward to seeing you all and your art.

Ken

Picchetti Winery in Cupertino

Picchetti Winery Tasting Room

A friend of mine posted some wonderful pics of Picchetti Winery today so I called the winery up and found out that they welcome oil painters and artists. For any early birds, I plan on bringing a lunch, getting there around noon, doing some tasting and then I'll starting painting around 1pm. The place closes at 4 so we'll probably stop at 3:30 or so to share our art. Always happy to car pool from 95131. Just mention it in the comments or message me through meetup.com's messaging app. The only catch is I have to get there a little early and stay for the duration. What to bring: • Art Supplies - Bring all of your own art supplies for whatever medium you are using e.g. paints, surfaces, brushes, and cleaning supplies. For any beginners who don't know how to start or have questions feel free to post in the comments section or DM me through meetup.com's message service. • Easels - If you're painting please bring your easel. I do have an extra French Easel, a Gorilla Painter Pochade Box and Tripod that I'm happy to lend for the day. Just let me know in the comments and I'll throw it into the car. • Outdoor wear - We will be outdoors for most of 3 hours so bring layers, hats, sunscreen. • Snacks/food - Most of the locations we paint at don't have food/drinks so bring whatever food/drinks you require. • Most of the places we paint at have picnic tables or benches, but if you need to sit when you art, be sure to bring something to sit on just in case. • A good test to ensure you have everything you need is to set up to paint in your own yard for 3 hours. If you bring everything it takes to create art in your yard then you'll have everything you need to paint with us :) Extra info: • Observe all signs. Especially the "keep off" ones. • Stay on paths, but do not block them. • Empty any painting fluids off-site including dirty water color water. • Take your garbage with you. Looking forward to seeing everyone. Ken

Sketching at Santana Row

Santana Row

Hi Everyone, Let’s do some sketching at Santana Row! My landscape paintings have gotten so much better in the last couple years, but I’d like to take more time to focus on drawing, figures, and architecture in the new year and what better place than a popular outdoor mall to get started. Let’s meeting at the fountain behind the “Vintage Wine Bar” at 1pm for introductions and then meet back there at 3:30 to share our art. There are a lot of options for parking, but for where we’re meeting the Santana Heights Parking Garage is where I’ll be parking. Here’s a link to good map of Santana Row: http://www.santanarow.com/files/Spring_2018_Handheld.pdf All mediums are welcomes, but I’ll be bringing my pencils, sketchbook and possibly my water colors. Basically an urban sketching kit. Looking forward to seeing everyone! Ken
