Abstract:
At Chill, we've been migrating to using Cassandra as our primary persistent store, motivated more by how it cleanly handles failure scenarios more than its much vaunted "Big Data" prowess. With CQL3, Cassandra now has an expressive enough language to function as a familiar RDBMS (though limited, particularly by a lack of joins), making migrating existing code much simpler. This talk will cover how we've approached using Cassandra, some of the strategies we've employed to address CQL3's limitations. and how we've approached the migration from our existing systems.
