What we're about

Hola!
We are a group of Spanish speakers, from native speakers to beginners alike, who get together to chat en español. We are a member-driven group with members pitching in to organize, greet new members and socialize. Our regular events are:
Monthly Marina Meetup: Every third Wednesday of the month you can expect a regular meetup at The Brixton in the Marina (unless otherwise stated in the event calendar) . This meetup is larger and may have a waiting list at times. These meetups are lively with lots of people meeting and chatting in Spanish while sipping drinks and having some appetizers.

LA HORA FELIZ: This is a popular bi-monthly meetup usually on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month at Baobab Cafe in the Mission. People come to celebrate the end of the workweek and mingle in Spanish in an upbeat, fun, atmosphere. Members often hang around until late.  Feeling hungry after all the chatting, propose a dinner plan with your fellow hablantes!

Mid-Week Spanish Meetup:  Come join this group for a mid-week lunch where you can practice your Spanish. Meeting once month, this sub-group is a fun way to practice Spanish during your lunch hour.

We also host other events at non-regular intervals.  If you are a member you will be notified of these special events:
Hiking en español, East Bay Spanish Happy Hour, Spanish Book Clubs, Concerts, Sporting Events, Saturday Café en español.

General info:
GROUP MINGLING: Please be open to members entering the meeting.  This means if you are already mingling and see a new member, please greet him or her and invite them into your chatting circle. If you are the person arriving, remember that most everyone else, like you, also arrived alone. If it is your first time coming, I highly recommend arriving on time and getting to know people in a smaller setting. If you arrive later it may appear more intimidating, but trust me super easy if you just walk up to anyone, you will see how friendly our members are.

WHAT SPANISH LEVEL TO EXPECT: Native speakers of Spanish are common in the group as well as intermediate to advanced speakers. Beginners are also welcome and people are super friendly in helping out by speaking slowly and being patient.  If you are total beginner, consider taking a class through ABC Languages: https://www.abclanguagesf.com/spanish.html

WHAT ATMOSPHERE TO EXPECT: Lively, social, fun!

PREFER A DIFFERENT STYLE OF MEETUP, location or meeting time? Just let the organizers know and we can make you an Event Organizer and you may put on meetups where and when you like.

La Hora Feliz, Viernes en el Bissap Baobab!

Bissap Baobab SF

La Hora Feliz at Bissap Baobab (Mission St)! Every Friday!

NOTES TO NEWCOMERS:
* Please arrive around 20m past 6PM if you're new to the group. Most of us (Including me) arrive from work and sometimes after dinner, so there's no expectation we will be right on time.
* Most of the regulars tend to not confirm in the Meetup page (And that's fine), just check with the waitresses/hosts/owner so they can point you to the group, they already know most of the regulars.
* The group is a mix of native speakers, regulars and people that are advanced, or close to that. But we don't really have a minimum level, it depends on your level of comfort. You can always ask others to speak slowly or clarify, that's also OK. Everybody is nice!
* I don't check attendance or anything like that, we are not in school anymore ;-)
* Format of conversation is 100% Spanish (Or close enough / aiming at that).

Salud!

Fiesta en mi depa! (2 PM !!)

525 Duncan St apt 3

Fiesta en mi depa!

525 Duncan St, Apt 3 San Francisco CA[masked]https://goo.gl/maps/wFJ6gm5vmucqCFpm6

This is sort of "Apartment farewell / travel abroad / birthday" party, and since most of my stuff is already out of my soon to be former apartment, everybody is invited !!

Please note:
- The apartment is sort of hidden, when looking down at the end of the Duncan St cul-de-sac. There's a walkway/stairs at the right of the end of the cul-de-sac, so walk in there, all the way down.
- It is around 3 floors down worth of stairs to get to the apartment, so bringing anything heavy is not recommended.
- If you look at the stairs, you will see "537", and the apartment "525" is behind that, as you go down.
- My apartment is pretty much empty (Only a couple of chairs and a small foldable table), so if you must seat, bring your own foldable chair. Some foldable/light tables would be nice to bring in.

In order to make it simple, I will order either pupusas, tacos or pizzas around 3pm(ish), and we all split costs, to make things simple. . So for starters, just bring some snacks and drinks.
