π Storytelling vs. Data-Dumping
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, 1000 Oaksdale Ave SW #110, Renton, WA, USTHEME: π Storytelling vs. Data-Dumping: Which Speaker Do YOU Remember?
YOU CAN ALSO JOIN US ONLINE VIA ZOOM!Think back to the last presentation that actually stuck with you. Chances are, it wasn't the one packed with stats, bullet points, and spreadsheets. It was the one with a story β a character, a struggle, a moment you could picture. Data informs. Stories transform. The good news: storytelling is a skill, not a talent, and it can be learned. When you stop dumping data and start telling stories, everything about how you connect with an audience changes.
π‘ Start Rewiring How You Present β Before You Walk In the Door
Try these on for size:- Find the human in your data β Behind every number is a person, a moment, or a "why." Dig for it before your next talk.
- Lead with a moment, not a metric β Open with a scene or story, then bring in the data to back it up β not the other way around.
- Cut the clutter β A story needs only the details that move it forward. If a stat doesn't serve the story, cut it.
- Use the arc, not the outline β Setup, conflict, resolution beats bullet point 1, 2, 3 every time.
- Practice in low-stakes moments β Tell the story to a friend before you tell it to a room. Reps build instinct.

Why Smart People Procrastinate - How to finally Stop
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, 1000 Oaksdale Ave SW #110, Renton, WA, USYOU CAN ALSO JOIN US ONLINE VIA ZOOM!
THEME: π§ Why Smart People Procrastinate β And How to Finally Stop
Nearly half of everything you do today wasn't a decision β it was a habit. How you open a conversation. How you handle nerves before speaking. How you listen, respond, and connect. Your communication style? Largely habitual.
The good news: habits can be rewired. And when you change the way you habitually communicate, everything changes with it.
π‘ Start Rewiring Your Communication Habits Now
Before you walk in the door, try these on:
β’ Identify your default β Do you ramble when nervous? Go quiet under pressure? Name the habit before you can change it.
β’ Replace, don't erase β Habits stick because they serve a need. Swap a weak communication habit for a stronger one that meets the same need.
β’ Use the cue-routine-reward loop β Every habit has a trigger. Learn to recognize yours and you can redirect it in real time.
β’ Practice in low-stakes moments β Change doesn't happen on stage. It happens in everyday conversations, one rep at a time.
β’ Make the new habit obvious β Tell someone your goal. Write it down. Repetition + accountability = transformation.

From Quiet to Commanding: The Introvert's Guide to Owning any Room
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, 1000 Oaksdale Ave SW #110, Renton, WA, USYOU CAN ALSO JOIN US ONLINE VIA ZOOM!
Theme: π€« From Quiet to Commanding: The Introvert's Guide to Owning Any Room
About this meeting
You don't have to be the loudest person in the room to be the most powerful one.
Maybe you've been told to "speak up more" in meetings. Maybe you dread the moment all eyes land on you. Maybe you have brilliant ideas but freeze before the words come out β and watch someone else get the credit.
If that sounds familiar, this meeting was made for you.
Here's what most people get wrong: great speakers aren't born extroverted. They're built intentionally. And introverts β with their depth of thought, careful listening, and deliberate presence β often become the most compelling communicators in the room. They just need the right tools.
Toastmasters is one of those tools.
π‘ Your Quiet-to-Commanding Starter Kit
Before you even walk in the door, try these:
β’ Reframe the story β "I'm not a natural speaker" is a belief, not a fact. The best speakers were once beginners who chose to practice.
β’ Prepare your anchor β Introverts thrive with preparation. Know your opening line cold. Confidence follows clarity.
β’ Use pauses on purpose β Silence isn't weakness. A well-placed pause signals authority. Own it.
β’ Depth over volume β You don't need to talk more. You need to say things that matter. That's an introvert's superpower.
β’ Start small, grow big β Every Toastmasters meeting is a safe, structured space to take one small step. No pressure. No judgment. Just growth.π Agenda
