🎤 What Is AREM?
Ever been asked a question on the spot and felt your mind go blank? Or started answering and realized halfway through you'd lost your point?
You're not alone, and there's a simple fix.

Our Toastmaster of the day will explore AREM, an easy four-step framework that helps you organize your thoughts in seconds and answer with clarity and confidence:

A – Answer: Start with a direct response. No wandering, no warm-up.
R – Reason: Explain why you believe it.
E – Example: Bring it to life with a story, fact, or personal experience.
M – Message: Wrap up by restating your main point so it sticks.

Whether you're in a job interview, a team meeting, or chatting at a networking event, AREM gives you a reliable structure to fall back on when you're put on the spot.

What to expect:
You'll see AREM explained and demonstrated, then get to try it yourself during Table Topics, our impromptu speaking segment, in a friendly, supportive setting. You'll also hear prepared speeches from members and get constructive feedback from our evaluators.

Who should come:
Everyone! Guests are always welcome, no experience needed. Come to watch, or jump in and give it a try. There's no pressure to speak.

Have you ever been asked to "say a few words" and felt your heart start racing? Or rambled through an answer, hoping you'd eventually land on a point? Impromptu speaking doesn't have to be scary, especially when you have a plan.

At this Toastmasters meeting, we're diving into PREP, a proven four-step framework that helps you organize your thoughts quickly and speak with confidence, even with no time to prepare:

P – Point: Lead with your main idea so your listener knows exactly where you stand.
R – Reason: Explain why you hold that view.
E – Example: Support it with a story, fact, or real-life experience.
P – Point: Restate your main idea to finish strong and leave a lasting impression.

PREP works anywhere you need to think on your feet: answering a question from your boss, speaking up in a meeting, handling an interview, or making small talk at a networking event.

What to expect:
We'll break down PREP and show it in action, then you'll get a chance to practice it during Table Topics, our impromptu speaking segment, in a warm and encouraging environment. You'll also enjoy prepared speeches from members and helpful feedback from our evaluators.

🎤 Excuse Me: How to Be Heard in Any Room

Ever had a great idea in a meeting, waited for the right moment, and watched someone else say it first? Or started speaking, got talked over, and quietly gave up the floor?

You’re not alone, and being heard isn’t about being the loudest person in the room.

Our Toastmaster of the day will explore what it takes to speak up and be taken seriously, whether you’re in a boardroom, a team call, a classroom, or a crowded networking event. We’ll look at how to:

• Step in without waiting for a “perfect” pause that never comes
• Hold the floor calmly when you’re interrupted, without apologizing for taking up space
• Sound confident through your voice, pace, posture, and eye contact (yes, even on Zoom)
• Make your point land so people remember it, and remember it came from you

What to expect:
You’ll see these techniques explained and demonstrated, then get to put them into practice during Table Topics, our impromptu speaking segment, in a friendly, supportive setting. You’ll also hear prepared speeches from members and get constructive feedback from our evaluators.

Who should come:
Everyone! Introverts, overthinkers, and recovering over-apologizers are especially welcome. Guests are always welcome, and no experience is needed. Come to watch, or jump in and give it a try. There’s no pressure to speak.
