#11: Proud to be a Chinese Entrepreneur: Your Unique Strengths in North American

Innovation and entrepreneurship are global themes now. As Chinese entrepreneurs in Canada, we are facing challenges that can be frustrating for minorities and immigrants in the country. However, Chinese purchasing power and number of Chinese immigrants/tourists demand talents with cross culture background and business experiences. There are certain tech sectors that China have gained advancements in a global market. All these provide Chinese entrepreneurs unique advantages in tackling challenges in startups. In this session, Victoria will share with us her insights on this topic through real cases she saw first-handly in the past 3 years.

Victoria Xu is a veteran of global ICT corporations, who has been dedicated to studying and researching tech startup eco-system in North America for 3 years. With 10+ years of experiences in tech product development and team management in China, while working for global firms, she has been working with multi-cultural teams and gained solid knowledge and insights on strengths and common pitfalls that many Chinese talents have. Further enhanced by her study in the US on public policy, she then devoted her endeavor to exploring opportunities for tech startups relevant to China by working closely with both sides of the Pacific Ocean. Based in Ottawa, Ontario Canada, she is now leading operations of FosterInno Startup Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting tech startups in the US and Canada by connecting them with resources from China. Victoria Xu在多家跨国ICT企业积累了丰富经验，她在北美用三年时间倾力学习、研究技术创业公司的生态系统。在中国，她有十几年技术产品研发和团队管理经验，在为跨国公司工作的工程中，她与多个跨文化团伙合作过，因此深入了解了华人人才特有的优势和常见的问题。此后，她又在美国学习公共政策制订，让自己的研究进一步深化，并开始致力于与太平洋两岸合作，探索与中国有关的技术创业的相关机会。目前，她居住在渥太华，主管FosterInno Startup Association的运营，这是一家非盈利组织，致力于支持美国和加拿大的技术创业公司，为他们提供来自中国的资源。
