What we're about

Our Tampa Bay Cycling meetup group is targeted for Tampa Bay area cyclists interested in joining together to enjoy biking in the Tampa Bay area. We offer multiple biking speed classes, some shorter introductory group rides averaging from 10 to 12 mph, some rides 12 to 14, and others that are 15 to 18 mph. We are adding leaders for some even faster rides. Please check each meetup for specifics on the average speed anticipated for the bike ride. Most of our rides are as a social, relaxed, but supportive group, in other words no paceline, and trash talking. As we add faster rides some may have a paceline, read the ride description.

Negative or adversarial comments, posts or actions will result in removal and banning of the offending party.

Helmets are required, lights are heavily suggested, and participation is at your own risk, a waiver may be required which leader will bring to ride.

Our founder Patrick Hodgson,  started this biking group (originally as Pinellas Pedalers) to meet other cycling enthusiasts and looking forward to exploring the many trails and safe bicycling roads in the area. Although all cyclists of all levels are welcome to join in, our rides will be from 10-90 miles, with most around 20 to 50 miles, and on occasion, a century ride.

We also like to get some of the members to join together to form a team to ride in the various charity events around the state of Florida.

All of our rides are posted on meetup. https://www.meetup.com/Tampa-Bay-Cycling/events/

We at Tampa Bay Cycling do not charge dues.

Keely's Really Fun Tiki Ride - 23 miles (rolling speed 13-15mph)

Location visible to members

Ideal ride for cyclists new to group riding! Get acclimated to single file, intersections, and safety hand signals. We're moving at an average pace, mostly on paved trails, two bridges out and back, leisure neighborhood streets and a portion on the bike shoulder of a four lane road.
Join in on the Sunday ride that starts and ends at the Tiki Docks. From the starting point, we'll head south on the Skyway trail to the North Skyway fishing pier. Then after a quick break and photo shoot, we'll reverse direction and head back to Pinellas Point. Then east on Pinellas Point Drive and north towards DTSP. But we'll turn left and head for the Lakewood Estates area and around the golf course towards 31st Ave S. Then we cut through on a side trail to 37th Ave N to arrive back at our starting point.

After the ride, we'll enjoy some lunch, libations, and new friendships.

This is a no drop 23 mile ride with a rolling speed of 13-15mph.

No shows, negative or adversarial comments, posts or actions will result in removal and banning of the offending party.

Don't send instant messages through meetup to folks you haven't met. Propositions to meet outside of meetup events to a virtual stranger is creepy. Of course a relevant message to or from an event host regarding an upcoming meetup is different.

Thank you for that consideration.

The ride leader may have a release for me to sign.

Attendance limited to 20 due to covid. Practice social distancing. We won't touch you or your stuff. If you or your bike are iffy please stay home.
