Woodshop Safety. This is the first class for sign off on the woodshop tools and includes general safety around the shop. This meetup is open to paid members only. For details on becoming a member of Tampa Hackerspace, please visit http://tampahackerspace.com/membership/ IMPORTANT NOTE #1: Closed toed shoes are required to enter the woodshop area. If you are not appropriately dressed, you will be asked to return for the next available class. IMPORTANT NOTE #2: If you no-show or cancel at the last minute, your access to future classes may be restricted. Not only are you taking a spot that someone else could use, it is extremely disrespectful to our instructors, most of whom are volunteers. Please don't forget this evening that we have several restrictions in place related to the Covid-19 pandemic. If you are sick, change your RSVP to No and stay home. 1. Masks are required and must be properly worn. 2. We are providing face shields that must be worn along with the masks. You are welcome to bring your own face shield. 3. You will be temperature screened when you arrive. 4. Maintain social distancing during the class. 5. If the instructor is not comfortable with your participation, you could be asked to leave without completing this class. This is done for the safety of everyone in the class. 6. You must badge in even if the door is open. We need to have a record of everyone's presence in case there is a future or unexpected problem (e.g. contact tracing is required). Our hope is that it goes smoothly and we can continue to offer classes, tool sign offs, and other events going forward. Let us know what you think. Limit 4 students.

  • Sew What? (Textile Arts & Crafts)

    Tampa Hackerspace West

Sewers, costumers, quilters, cosplayers, clothing designers, and textile artists & crafters of all kinds, come see what Tampa Hackerspace has to offer and meet others who share your interest in making things out of fabric and fiber! This meetup is free of charge and open to all. (Yes, this includes you, knitters, crocheters, cross-stitchers, embroiderers, weavers, tie-dyers, and anyone else who works with fabric, thread, yarn, etc.) Think of this as an "Open Make" event -- bring your project, or just come to learn & see what others are working on. We're working on putting together classes and/or group projects for future meetups. Tampa Hackerspace is in the midst of expanding, and we now have a (temporary) dedicated sewing & textiles area! If there is enough interest among our members, we may end up with a more permanent space as our expansion progresses. If this is something you'd like to see, come on out and help make it happen! We have a few working sewing machines set up, including a serger, and a large cutting table. If you have a project to work on, you may want to bring a machine if you're able as we may have more stitchers than sewing machines.
