Leathersmithing 101

Everything you need to know to get started in Leathercrafting! The class will cover the different types of leather and the methods of working leather from a basic hide into functioning utilitarian and artisan products. As an introductory project, we'll be making monogrammed keychains. If you have a more ambitious project in mind, please bring your own leather.

Members $15; non-members $25. This includes the materials cost for consumables used during the class. We will provide the tools for student use.

Your intrepid instructor is J Kent, a certified blacksmith and leathersmith who has also done work with bronze/aluminum casting as well as epoxy-resin casting. He trained in art at USF and can touch his nose with his tongue.
