Using Storytelling to Improve Content Channels & Free Tech Help Session

The 1st half of the meeting will be a presentation on key communication channels, communication best practices, and how to effectively "tell your story" on your mission and who you're helping! The 2nd half of the meeting will give nonprofits the opportunity to share who they are and their current technology questions/issues, and then we'll break into small groups where tech volunteers will help nonprofits with those questions/issues and communication strategy/planning.

Abstract - Using Storytelling to Improve Content Channels
How consistent and compelling are the messages you’re sending to potential donors, volunteers, and community members?

In this workshop, we’ll discuss how to get the most bang for your buck out of your communications, with an emphasis on email outreach and newsletters. Discussion topics will include:

• How to develop well-crafted communications, including tips for subject lines and calls to action
• Using the art of storytelling to engage your audience and prompt a response
• Benchmarks and guidelines to track standard metrics such as open rates and click-throughs
• How to utilize A/B testing to improve your results
• Available tools (many free!) to help you distribute and track communications
