CALLING ALL MAKERS! WikiHouse Display at Detroit Design Festival

How to make WikiHouse functional domestic architecture:
- Step 1: Input your dimensions in the WikiHouse graphic interface.
- Step 2: Transfer your cut files to a CNC router; cut parts from prescribed number of plywood sheets
- Step 3: Remove and assemble parts with hammers and wedges - no glue or metal parts required.

This is utility architecture in 3 simple DIY steps!

What can you do with wiki-designed, anyone-can-build-it architecture? TechShop Detroit Member Brad Jensen is inspired by that question and invites you to a presentation on Wednesday, August 28. Learn more about WikiHouse and BE PART OF THE TEAM to bring a module for Detroit Design Festival 2013. This presentation event is open to the public.

Brad and Peggy: Thank you for sharing your discovery of WikiHouse and working to bring it to Detroit! Looking forward to the unveiling of a prototype or sample home during the Detroit Design Festival Sept 18-22. (I know you'll keep keep us posted as to the exact time slot and location.) I must admit, didn't get the concept of WikiHouse at first when I looked at it's website, (it seems so technical), so I'm glad I attended your info session at TechShop Detroit on Wed. Aug 28. You're gonna be busy these next couple of weeks getting ready for the DDF! I look forward to helping with your other volunteers, and learning more.

hi... totally new to this WikiHouse concept.
can it be used for building a real-life sized shed, or is it just for modeling purposes?

    • Brad J.

The WikiHouse system is designed to be a full-sized house. The segment that we will be building will be approximately 13' x 5' x 13' and will represent a section of a larger house.

But it could also be a shed or whatever else you wish.
