This month's talk we'll be learning about AI from Lars Kotthoff, Professor of Computer Science at the University of Wyoming.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has received a lot of attention in the popular press recently, with concerns raised about super-intelligent self-aware AI taking over the planet and spelling the end of the human race. In this talk, I will have a look at the current state of the art in AI, what machines can do, and what humans are still better at. I will briefly explain some of the concepts underlying AI and machine learning, and why there is probably no need to worry about robots enslaving us just yet.
We will also be having our annual board elections so candidates will have a very short "speech" and then we'll vote.
Once again, we'll probably have a beer/food pool so if you're interested, bring a donation or BYOB.
