At this event, we will be featuring the most innovative local tech companies and nonprofits that are using technology to make a positive impact on our world and communities. Each of these companies will give a 10 minute "Lightning Tech-Fluential Talk" to discuss exactly how they are using their tech to make our world a better place. These talks are sure to educate and inspire!

ELI is an innovative hybrid nonprofit organization that merges the worlds of intelligence, investigations and conservation in service of wildlife and the people who protect it. They started field operations in 2015, and within less than four years have conducted dozens of intelligence-gathering and investigative missions, in 14 countries throughout Africa, Asia and Latin America, on several criminal wildlife supply chains, including ivory, rhino horn, jaguar’s parts, live animals, seafood and other illegal wildlife products.

WORLD CHANGING JOURNALISM

The Panama Papers (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panama_Papers) represent one of the world's largest data leaks in history: 11.5 million records exposing a system that enables crime, corruption, and wrongdoing, hidden by secretive offshore companies. Over 400 journalist members of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) worked for a year mining and investigating the data stored in a Neo4j graph database. This resulted in the resignation of the PM of Iceland, Supreme Court hearings for Pakistan's PM, the arrest of people money laundering for Mexican drug cartels, and plenty of more investigations and regulatory reforms.
