What we're about

The mission of the Tergar Meditation Community is to make the ancient practice of meditation accessible to the modern world. For centuries, the practice of meditation has been used by countless individuals to transform suffering into joy and confusion into wisdom.

The meetup group has weekly sitting groups, workshops, and retreats based on Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche's bestselling book, The Joy of Living. Open to anyone, regardless of belief or experience.

At the intersection of spirituality and modern neuroscience, the Tergar Community presents practical, accessible teachings and guidance on cultivating a meditation practice, within a supportive community.

Weekly Meditation Group

Filament Theater

Every Sunday we meet for meditation practice and discussion, applying a variety of techniques for mindfulness and compassion practice. Anyone is welcome to attend, regardless of previous meditation experience (total beginners or seasoned meditation pros all will benefit!). We share the cost of renting the space, so an optional donation of $5 is welcome.

Nectar of the Path Practice

Filament Theater

• What we'll do Starting in December, we will begin offering a practice called The Nectar of the Path. We will have practice sessions once a month, on the first Sunday. We'll work with this practice for about an hour before our regular sitting group. This practice, written by Mingyur Rinpoche in 2010 while on retreat at St. John's in Minnesota, covers many of the core elements of Buddhist teachings, with chants, aspirations, and meditation practice. This is open to everyone. At the same time, please note that this is a "Buddhist" practice: it is based on the fundamental Buddhist concepts of refuge, bodhicitta, and relationship to the teacher. If you'd prefer a secular approach, please join us at our regular sitting sessions every Sunday from 9:30 to 11:00 at the same location. More info on the practice can be found here: https://learning.tergar.org/2016/04/23/nectar-of-the-path/
