Check out the pics (http://www.meetup.com/5BoroEXPLORATION/photos/all_photos/?photoAlbumId=21162132) from the Walk Around Astoria we did the last time. It was awesome!!
Starting at the end of the N/Q line in Astoria we will casually stroll down Ditmars Blvd, then saunter along Shore Blvd next to Astoria Park following this route (https://goo.gl/maps/aMHAl) which has amazing views of Hell Gate Bridge, Robert F. Kennedy Bridge, Randall's Island, the East River and New York City. Like really, really amazing! Meet 6:30. Walk starts at 7 PM on the dot. Do not be late or you will miss us.
Afterwards we can pop on over to a bar/restaurant I like to bring my people to when I hold walking events in Astoria. It's a combination of indoor and outdoor seating and they have a great selection of everything: drinks, food, ambiance, and the subway is right there too.
Pace/Distance/Duration: The pace of this walk will be easy-going. The total distance is a little over 3 miles. The approximated time from start to finish is 1.5 hours with photo opp stops.
If this is your first time attending a meetup, try not to worry too much. Around 90% of attendees are first timers so you won't be alone. Most people come solo and I encourage that. In a matter of minutes you'll be engrossed in a conversation with someone and then another and another and so on. Every 10 minutes or so I make the guys switch with the girls so everyone gets a chance to talk to everyone. You'll meet like a trillion people!
How will you find us? Look for the group of people standing in front of McDonald's at the last stop of the N/Q line (Ditmars Blvd) and then look for the tallest guy there. That will be Beau (https://www.facebook.com/beau.gould), your Date Walk (http://www.meetup.com/DateWalking/) organizer. Alternatively, you can CALL the organizer at[masked]
What to expect? Date Walks (http://www.meetup.com/datewalking) are very casual and easy-to-attend / non-awkward + the host Beau (https://www.facebook.com/beau.gould) is always there to make introductions. It’s really easy to meet people.
Rain Date: If it rains this walk will be postponed to a future date.
When you come to the event pay $10 and I will provide you with a ticket that’s good for 30-days. Hold onto the ticket and come to any/all Date Walking (http://www.meetup.com/datewalking) events for 30 days. Just show your ticket and you're good to go.
Why am I paying you a fee for a place I can go to for free? See the answer here (http://www.meetup.com/datewalking/messages/boards/thread/49559836).
If you have any questions prior to or on the day of the event, please do not hesitate to give me a call.
Beau, your Date Walking Organizer
