This meetup's presentations:

Ian Davis - CircleCI

Using schema / spec to understand legacy clojure

We all have that one dark corner of the codebase we're afraid to look at. Runtime contracts provide us with an easy way to investigate and understand how legacy code works right now, which is the first step towards modernizing it. Not just that, but well schematized / spec'ed functions can help us prevent our code from becoming the ugly legacy code of tomorrow.

Ian leads the enterprise engineering team at CircleCI, making sure our CI/CD solution works just as well for the fortune 500 as it does for scrappy startups. He's passionate about social entrepreneurship and finding ways to use technology to drive emotional and personal growth. He has the rare pleasure of having worked his entire professional career in Clojure, first at Prismatic and now at CircleCI. It's ruined him for all future jobs.

Tianxiang (TX) Xiong - Funding Circle

Effective use of Emacs/CIDER with `helm-cider`.

TX is a software engineer at Funding Circle. He is an inveterate Emacs user who is always looking for ways to improve tooling, and looks forward to the day when people can truly "become the tools of their tools".

Anton Podviaznikov - Runnable

Building personal site with perun

We will briefly talk about static site generators in general, boot and perun. During the session, we will build a simple personal web site and see the real power of boot and perun.

Anton Podviaznikov is a software engineer at Runnable. Anton is currently interested in the influence of technology on our everyday lives and occupied with the search for happiness, personal growth, and self-discovery. He found Clojure ~5 years ago and used it for open source work and various side projects happily since then.

Food and drinks will be provided! Looking forward to seeing you all there :)
