What we're about

This is your opportunity to practise or have a taster at various languages in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Join us if you would like to do just that!

We would also love to hear from you if you have a language to offer from any continent and any country.

If you appreciate diversity and believe all cultures and languages to be of the same value, come and join like-minded people!

Be sure to always rsvp to meetups you intend to join, so that I get an idea of numbers and other people are encouraged to come along too.

Multicultural Big Lunch and 10th Anniversary

War Memorial Park

The War Memorial Monument. The Aviary is the brown building on the right. Bring food and drink to share. If possible, bring food from your country, but not necessarily. Please label the food to indicate what you put in it, so that people can avoid food they do not eat etc... We will be behind the aviary, a brown building with a black railing, between the war memorial monument and the children splash/play area. Bring some ball/board games along as well, if you wish. I will have a foot ball, a scrabble etc... This event is widely publicised, as part of the Positive Images Festival (http://www.positiveimagesfestival.co.uk/) so we are expecting lots of non-members. We are also getting a marquee sponsored by the Council. It ties in with the National Big Lunch Day https://www.edenprojectcommunities.com/thebiglunch. It is going to be great fun!!! ;o) Mu. The aviary. We will be behind it, the other side of the black railing.

The Esquires Cafe and 10th Anniversary

Esquires Cafe

The Esquires Cafe is an open space. It is easy to find us. We put several tables together and each has a sign for a specific language. We support the venue by buying drinks. They close either at 5pm or 5.30pm depending on the time of the year. We try to leave 10min before closure to give the staff enough time to rearrange the furniture we have moved. I collect 50p to help towards the website costs. Organisers pay $90 per semester (about £62) to the Meetup Website. Your contribution will be very much appreciated. The badge with your name and language(s) and level(s) cost £2.

The Old Windmill

The Old Windmill

We will be in the Black Room, on the right as you enter the pub. There are a few tables in the room. There will be a sign on each table indicating which language is being spoken there and then you join the table you want. You can also move around if you want to practise various languages, of course. The bar is being very kind in letting us use that space, so it will be nice if we could support them also by buying drinks, fair enough. We would have booked the Black Room, on the right as you enter the pub. Just listen out for people speaking something other than English! ;o) Murielle. I collect 50p to help towards the website costs. Organisers pay $90 per semester (about £62) to the Meetup Website. Your contribution will be very much appreciated.
