### Highly Sensitive People: The Everyday Heroes No One Sees
In a world that values toughness and resilience, highly sensitive people (HSPs) are often overlooked. Yet, they are the quiet visionaries, deep thinkers, and compassionate changemakers who bring depth, creativity, and connection into every space they enter.
But the world wasnāt built for them.
And without support, highly sensitive people often find themselves overwhelmed, burned out, and disconnected from their own needs.
***
### The Curious Rebel Layer (a.k.a. Why You Might Be Here)
Many highly sensitive people are also what we call curious rebels.
Not rebels in the loud, rule-breaking senseābut in the quieter, more inconvenient (for society) way:
- You donāt just want to know what to doāyou want to know if it actually makes sense.
- You notice inconsistencies in systems, relationships, and āthe way things are done.ā
- You ask āwhyā more than most people are comfortable with.
- Youād rather have a deep, slightly unhinged conversation than make small talk about the weather.
- Youāve probably been told youāre ātoo much,ā ātoo intense,ā or ātoo sensitive.ā
Youāre not trying to be difficult.
You just⦠canāt unsee things.
And that level of awareness?
Itās a gift.
But itās also exhausting.
Because being a curious rebel often means living in high-definition in a world that prefers things blurry.

### The Challenges HSPs (and Curious Rebels) Face
š Feeling Overstimulated ā Your brain doesnāt have a āmute button,ā and it shows.
š¬ Struggling to Set Boundaries ā You feel everything, including things that arenāt yours.
šŖ Pushing Too Hard or Withdrawing Completely ā You oscillate between over-functioning and shutting down.
ā¤ļø Feeling Misunderstood ā Because most people arenāt tracking what youāre tracking.
This isnāt because youāre weak.
Itās because your system is processing more.
***
### Why This Group Exists
This isnāt just another Meetup.
Itās a space for people who:
- Think deeply.
- Feel deeply.
- And are a little tired of pretending they donāt.
Itās for those who donāt want surface-level fixes.
Itās for people who want to:
- Understand themselves.
- Recognize their patterns.
- Build a life that actually feels alignedānot just one that looks good.
Here, we donāt see sensitivity as something to āfix.ā
We see it as something to:
Understand, work with, and ultimately trust.

### Hosted by Phoenix Rising Family Medicine
This community is proudly hosted by Phoenix Rising Family Medicineāan integrative primary care clinic focused on helping people understand the deeper roots of burnout, chronic stress, and whole-person health.
At Phoenix Rising, we donāt just look at symptomsāwe explore the patterns, environments, and lived experiences that shape your well-being.
This Meetup is an extension of that philosophy:
Healing happens when we look deeper, get curious, and work with the whole personānot just isolated problems.

***
### Why Community Matters
Because doing this alone is⦠unnecessarily hard.
When highly sensitive, curious people come together:
- Things start to make sense.
- Patterns become visible.
- And what once felt like ātoo muchā becomes insight.
And when that happens?
People donāt just survive.
They build lives that actually work.

### šæ A Small Fee to Protect Something Precious
When I first created The Healthy Sensitives, my hope was to build a welcoming space where people could show up as themselves, connect with others, and feel safe enough to let their guard down.
And we've done just that. This community has brought together some truly wonderful humans from all over the world.
Unfortunately, our growth has also attracted a few people whose idea of entertainment involves disrupting online gatherings. We've experienced incidents of Zoom bombingāpeople entering our meetings to share offensive material, interrupt conversations, and violate the sense of safety we've worked so hard to create.
While we've introduced additional safeguards, I've also made the difficult decision to establish a $5 monthly membership fee.
This small fee serves several purposes:
- Protecting our community: It creates an additional barrier against trolls and Zoom bombers, making it harder for people to create fake accounts and disrupt our gatherings.
- Keeping our community sustainable: It helps support the time, technology, and resources needed to keep these spaces available.
- Providing value beyond live gatherings: Members will also receive access to recordings of selected educational sessions and guided mindfulness practices. So even if your schedule doesn't allow you to attend our gatherings, you can still enjoy the material, explore our weekly themes, and benefit from the resources we share.
After all, belonging to a community shouldn't require perfect attendance. Some of us have jobs, families, unpredictable energy levels, and calendars that look like they were organized by a caffeinated raccoon.
But here's something I want to make absolutely clear:
I never want $5 to be the reason someone feels they don't belong here.
If the membership fee creates a financial hardship for you, please contact me privately. I'm happy to discuss waiving the fee. No elaborate explanation, financial documentation, or interpretive dance demonstrating economic distress required.
I trust you to know what you need.
The fee is intended to discourage people who want to harm our communityānot keep out the people who might benefit from it most.
Because belonging shouldn't be a luxury. And protecting our community shouldn't mean closing the door on people who genuinely want to be part of it.
Thank you for helping make The Healthy Sensitives a place where we can feel safe, seen, supported, and occasionally just the right amount of weird. š

### This Is Your Invitation
If youāve ever thought:
- āWhy does everything feel so intense?ā
- āWhy do I notice things other people donāt?ā
- āWhy canāt I just⦠be normal?ā
You may simply experience the world a little differently.
And you might be exactly who this group is for.
You don't need to have everything figured out. You don't need to be perfectly regulated, endlessly positive, or particularly good at small talk.
You just need a little curiosity, a willingness to connect, and perhaps a healthy appreciation for the absurd.
⨠Join us. Your sensitivity isnāt the problemāitās the starting point. āØ

Body Doubling Creativi-time
Ā·OnlineOnline# Focus Friday: Body Doubling for Sensitive Creatives
Less Procrastination. Less Pressure. More ProgressāTogether.
Friday | 12:00 PM Pacific | 60-Minute Virtual Co-Working Session
Have something you've been meaning to work on but just can't seem to get started?
Maybe it's a book you've been wanting to write, a creative project that's been gathering dust, an administrative task you've been avoiding, or a goal that keeps getting pushed to the bottom of your to-do list.
You know what you want to do.
You may even know exactly how to do it.
But somehow, actually doing it feels like climbing a mountain.
What if you didn't have to rely entirely on willpower to get started?
And what if being in the company of othersāeven virtuallyācould make it easier to focus, follow through, and make meaningful progress?
Welcome to Focus Friday, our weekly body doubling session for the Healthy Sensitive community.
### What Is Body Doubling?
Body doubling is a simple productivity strategy that involves working alongside another personāor a group of peopleāwhile each person focuses on their own task.
You don't have to work on the same project. You don't even have to talk.
The idea is that the quiet presence of others can provide a sense of structure, accountability, and companionship that makes it easier to begin and sustain attention.
Body doubling is especially popular among people with ADHD and executive functioning challenges, but it can be helpful for anyone who struggles with procrastination, task initiation, distraction, or working in isolation.
And for highly sensitive people, it offers something particularly appealing:
The opportunity to experience connection without the pressure of constant social interaction.
We can be together without having to entertain one another.
We can be productive without competing.
And we can make progress without turning every task into an exercise in self-discipline.
### Belonging Through Shared Presence
There's something quietly powerful about working alongside other people.
So much of our culture encourages us to approach productivity as an individual achievement. We celebrate self-sufficiency, discipline, and the ability to push through challenges on our own.
But human beings are social creatures.
Sometimes the presence of another person is enough to help us feel more grounded, motivated, and engaged.
Body doubling reminds us that we don't have to do everything aloneāeven when the work itself is ours to do.
And unlike traditional hustle culture, this isn't about squeezing every possible ounce of productivity out of ourselves.
It's about creating an environment where meaningful work feels a little easier, a little lighter, and a lot less lonely.
### What Can You Work On?
Anything that would benefit from a little focused attention!- Creative projects: Writing, painting, designing, composing, or working on your next big idea.
- Personal goals: Planning, journaling, organizing, or taking the next step toward something meaningful.
- Administrative tasks: Emails, paperwork, budgeting, scheduling, or tackling your ever-growing to-do list.
- Learning and development: Reading, studying, researching, or completing coursework.
- Everyday life: Folding laundry, organizing your space, or finally dealing with that pile of things you've been ignoring.
No project is too big, too small, or too ordinary.
You don't have to accomplish something extraordinary.
You just have to show up.
### What to Expect
Our 60-minute session will follow a simple structure:
12:00ā12:05 PM | Arrive & Set an Intention
We'll briefly settle in, choose what we'd like to work on, and identify one realistic goal for our time together.
12:05ā12:30 PM | Focus Session One
We'll work quietly and independently, using the shared virtual space as a source of gentle accountability.
12:30ā12:35 PM | Mindful Reset
We'll take a short break to stretch, breathe, move, or simply step away from our screens.
12:35ā12:55 PM | Focus Session Two
We'll return to our projects for another period of focused work.
12:55ā1:00 PM | Reflection & Celebration
We'll close by acknowledging our progress, reflecting on what helped, and identifying a possible next step.
Cameras are optional, and participation in check-ins is encouraged but never required. The goal is to create a calm, supportive environmentānot another performance.
This is a working session, not a recorded workshop. Our focus is on creating a comfortable space where people can concentrate on their own projects.
### A Note About Community Safety
As our Healthy Sensitive community grows, I'm implementing additional safeguards to reduce Zoom bombing and protect the integrity of our virtual gatherings.
These include additional attention to registration, meeting access, and participation.
Our goal is to create a space where members can work comfortably without worrying about unwanted interruptions or disruptive behavior.
Thank you for helping preserve this environment.
### Join The Healthy Sensitive Membership

Our philosophy is simple:
Create a life you don't have to recover from.
You don't need more pressure.
You don't need another elaborate productivity system.
And you certainly don't need to beat yourself up for struggling to get started.
Sometimes you just need a little structure, a little companionship, and permission to begin imperfectly.
Bring your project. Bring your curiosity. Bring yourself.
We'll make progress together.4 attendees
