Free Crash Course - Tomorrow's Javascript, Today

Overview

Join our Instructor, Jason Perry (https://www.meetup.com/The-Iron-Yard-Tampa-Bay/members/2975923/) and our Student Enrollment Representative, Holly Valenty (https://www.meetup.com/The-Iron-Yard-Tampa-Bay/members/215169340/), to learn the newest features of ES2015 and learn more about The Iron Yard (http://www.theironyard.com/).

This is the first update to the language since ES5 was standardized in 2009. Implementations of these features in major Javascript engines is underway now. This course will be beneficial to those familiar with ES5 JavaScript.

Outcomes

We'll do a hands-on workshop where we'll see some of the new features together.

Requirements

• Laptop that is WiFi capable. Laptops are required to complete the course. However, if you do not have one and would simply like to attend as an observer, you're certainly welcomed to sign up and you'll still learn a lot!

• Optionally, your favorite text editor (e.g. Sublime Text, Vim or Atom, not a word processor like Word). We will be using Codepen.io as an optional replacement to these.

• Learn about the new ES2015 features: arrows, classes, enhanced object literals, template strings, destructuring, default + rest + spread, let + const

• Real world use cases

• Basic JavaScript syntax

• Refactoring a simple application
