Hi all,

Planning a round the island (of Wight) subject to weather, cusp of summer time!

Our final itinerary will be tailored to the weather and the group’s wishes, but the general plan is:
We’ll meet at the yacht on Friday evening no later than 8 pm, when we’ll head out to get some dinner.
On Saturday, after breakfast and a safety briefing, we’ll sail out into the Solent and go around the Isle of Wight. Then on the Sunday we’ll sail back again. Depends on weather, tides, wind, etc.

About me: Gaurav Sarin
I have over 5,000 nm racing miles, including 2x Fastnet, RTIR (class winner 2017), several inshore and offshore races behind me. Total log in the region of 7,000 nm. I also regularly race Daring-class keelboats off Cowes. I have cruised in the Med, Canaries, English South coast, France, Ireland, etc.
Yachtmaster Coastal, first aid, sea survival, vhf, etc…

This is a non-commercial trip, run on a shared-cost basis at £150 per person (plus £12 to LSC for non-members). That covers the boat and its home marina fees. It doesn’t cover evening meals or drinks or getting yourself to/from the boat

In the past we have often ended up with extra food/wastage. I am proposing that everyone makes their own provisions. We can have breakfasts and dinners ashore and carry quick heating/eating lunch along with drinks per our choice.
Allow 2 litres of water per person per day. Tea/Coffee will be on board.

Fairview Sailing in Port Hamble, Hamble-le-Rice. SO31 4QD
Please aim to reach no later than 8 pm. Meet on the boat – name TBC – and drop the kit off, head for drinks/food.

What to bring:
No special or expensive kit required – just practical footwear and clothing to suit the weather. Lifejackets are provided. Towels and bedding aren’t provided, so bring a towel, pillow and sleeping bag. Don’t forget sunglasses, sun-cream and a hat! Use a soft bag rather than a hard suitcase. Please bring sailing gloves and warm hat. In terms of clothes, layers work best on the water – so you can be as cool as you like!
If you need foul weather clothes – these are for hire @ £20 for the weekend. Let me know and confirm sizes.
