What we’re about
The London Sailing Club is a not-for-profit organisation that makes it easy and affordable for people to get involved in yachting, learn about sailing in general, and meet other like-minded individuals.
We’re not a traditional yacht club with a flagpole and a club tie. We’re a vibrant online community whose members organise and enjoy around 50 sailing trips each year - everything from taster days in the Solent to sun-drenched weeks in the Mediterranean.
The Club hosts a monthly social event in Central London, but we’re not just for Londoners. Our membership is diverse and we welcome anyone who is interested in sailing, regardless of ability or experience. Whether you’re a curious novice or a seasoned circumnavigator, London Sailing Club is a great place to meet other fun sailors and get out on the water.

This very relaxed evening is the perfect opportunity for first-timers and prospective members to find out more about us and to meet some of our regular sailors, skippers and trip organisers. We've booked a large area to accommodate the whole group. The Green Room serves great pizzas and nibbles for those wishing to eat.
For managing numbers it's helpful to know if you're coming and you can let us know using the link at the top of this event description. However, non-members and first-timers are most welcome to simply turn up – and many do! But if you feel uncomfortable doing that, then please don't hesitate to message one of the organisers or event hosts beforehand. We'll then keep an eye out for you and be happy to introduce you to other members personally. Like sailors the world over, we’re a very friendly and welcoming bunch!

This trip is open to seasoned sailors and beginners alike, no experience is necessary. This trip is offered by Mike Johns and operated through Sailscape. The trip is a commercial trip run on a cost price basis exclusively for LSC members.
When: 4th July to 11th July.

The yacht is licenced in accordance with Greek laws and fully equipped with all necessary safety equipment and navigational aids. There will be space for 8 people on-board. We never expect anyone to be sleeping in the saloon
Event Organiser/skipper: This trip is organised and skippered by Mike Johns (Sailscape Ltd)
Accommodation: Accommodation will be in shared double or twin cabins. We often get asked if cabins are available for sole occupancy and, of course that’s fine, however we can only accommodate this if you agree to cover the full charter cost of the other space in the cabin.
Cost: £950 per person
To be paid as 2 instalments
Deposit : £475 due to confirm your place
Balance : £475 due 1st May 2025
The cost includes basic charter and insurance costs of the yacht, end cleaning, towels, bed linen, dinghy and outboard and cooking gas. Extras: Additional costs to consider are flights, transfers and any accommodation ashore (at the start or end of the trip) plus restaurant/bar bills ashore.
Flights: approx. £200-400 return depending and the exact date/time of travel. Kos Airport is the closest airport with direct flights from several London airports. The Plan: Are you finding the Solent a little familiar, fancy exploring a little further afield along the south coast of England?
We are planning a trip to Weymouth and back over the August bank holiday weekend. The first yacht will be skippered by Mike Johns, and we have plans to add more yachts if there is sufficient interest.
It should be a fun and social weekend with lots of chance to get involved in the sailing and enjoy a longer passage. We will aim to leave Haslar on Friday evening for a short sail to Cowes where we will stay for the night before departing first thing on Saturday morning for the long passage (50nm) to Weymouth with favourable tides. The return will be more leisurely with a stop in either Studland Bay, Poole Harbour or Lymington on the Sunday before returning to Haslar on Monday. The plan will be to have an evening at anchor on Sunday with either a meal aboard or a BBQ ashore depending on where we end up.
The trip is open to all, no experience is necessary however this may particularly appeal to those wishing to gain seas miles towards a qualification. There will be experienced skippers onboard all yachts.
Any questions please feel free to message me I will get back to you as soon as I can. Mike Johns will be running this trip on a commercial basis operated through Sailscape exclusively for LSC members.Organiser: Mike Johns (Sailscape Ltd)
Where: We will meet at the Creek restaurant at Haslar Marina (by the entrance at the office end) around 6pm on the Friday evening before we go together to the boat.
Breakfasts and lunches on-board will be provided, any evening meals will be additional whether eaten ashore or on board/BBQ.
We'll be sleeping on the yacht in shared cabins. Full details of what to bring and travel plans to and from the marina will be sent out nearer the time.
The Yacht: We have chartered an Elan 42. We will be sailing with 8-9 on the boat but there will be lots of chance for everyone to get involved in all aspect of the sailing. All necessary safety equipment including life jackets will be supplied by the charter company and the yacht is fully coded for charter and comes complete with central heating!
Cost: The cost is £350 per person, which covers yacht charter, fuel, marina fees, breakfasts, lunches, snacks and hot/soft drinks. It doesn’t cover evening meals, drinks ashore or getting yourself to/from the boat. Any questions, let me know. To secure your place I’ll need to take payment of the full amount when you sign up for the trip.
