This is NOT Wildwood in Thousand Oaks! This is a MUCH cooler hike in Burbank which you can think of as the Burbank Butt Burner*!. We'll start from the trailhead described below by the first parking lot you will encounter where you will also find restrooms and a water fountain. It is a steady climb for the entire distance with few, if any, flat sections. This hike will seriously test your heart, lungs and legs - a real workout!
I am allocating 43-1/2 minutes to reach the bench (see picture below) where we will rest briefly, watch the Sunset and head back down following the same path! Please note start time moved forward to 6:00 p.m. in order for us to get to the summit by sunset!
Thus, do not attempt this hike if you are not already very fit and strong. But if you do participate, you will be amply rewarded with views of the Griffith Park, downtown LA, Bob Hope Airport, Pacific Ocean, the Channel Islands, Forest Lawn Cemetery, Santa Monica Mountains, Burbank police shooting range, San Gabriel Mountains and even the distant Santa Susana Mountains. This picture is looking towards the Pacific, and, downtown LA can be seen in the distance. The ascent trail coming up the ridge is also visible in this picture.
