What we're about

The River Connection Paddler group is for kayakers looking for greater performance (and fun) from their time on the water.
Outings can be Instruction/Performance related or casual getaways.  The tenor is dictated by the group dynamics.
The River Connection is equipped by our year round retail store The River Connection, Inc. carrying P&H, Valley, North Shore and Venture kayaks, paddles by Werner, Mitchell and Saltwood, gear and garb by Kokatat, Astral Designs, Stohlquist, Thule, Marco Kayak Saddles.
The River Connection programs are most often launched from our own private Boathouse/Harbor at 30 River Road, Hyde Park, NY at the Hyde Park Landing.  This is where we house our Fleet of Demo/Instructional Kayaks and equipment.  We also feature other programs elsewhere on the Hudson River as well as the Long Island Sound.

Kayak Forward Stroke Trek

Forward Stroke Trek?

A number of new expedition members of OperationDeepBlue.org are attending this as a training session for the October Event.

There are a few spaces available but this is not your everyday skills focused class. We will be underway with the tidal current conducting this Forward Stroke Clinic from The River Connection Boathouse at Hyde Park Landing, 5 miles south passing under the Walkway Over the Hudson and back. A quick stop at Quiet Cove Park for necessities is likely on the return leg.

With current we will be maintaining a 4mph minimum speed the entire time. Likely faster.

Come refine your Forward Stroke for efficiency, power and so you can have more fun in your time on the water.

15’+ sea kayaks or surfskis if you are bringing your own gear. P&H/Stellar Sea kayaks and surfskis are available if you prefer or do not have your own equipment.

Price of this Clinic is $90 per person.
