The Persistence of Memory: Time Series Databases

Details

A time series is a series of observations captured over a period of time (e.g. stock quotes, sensor data, or any other time-stamped data source). With the growth of sensors deployed for IoT solutions, ingesting, processing and storing time series data is a key requirement in enabling scalable, flexible, secure, and efficient solutions.

This month, we’ll hear from Timescale and kx:

• Kevin McGivern, SVP and Conner McNicholas, kdb+ Developer of kx, will provide an introduction to how technology that was first adopted in the harshest of environments, Wall Street, is now gaining traction in industries that want to gain insights, make predictions and increase results from the ever increasing velocity and volumes of data being generated.

• Ajay Kulkarni, Founder/CEO of TimescaleDB, an open source time-series database engineered from PostgreSQL, optimized for fast ingest and complex queries, will be addressing considerations for high-volume, complex data- including how to achieve both scale and efficient complex queries when storing time-series data.

Agenda

• 6:00 - 6:15pm: Check-in, networking over food and drink

• 6:15 - 6:25pm: Welcome, topic intro, member announcements & asks [Shilpi Kumar & Linda Drabik, Co-Organizers, SF IoT meetup]
