What we're about

Tending the Fire Within: Therapy Groups for Men

In these groups we will embrace and explore issues that men often find themselves struggling with. Together we will share and learn to work with our anger, humiliation, grief, loneliness, and sense of power in order to create lives with more passion and connection.

By supporting each other’s experience, we will dive more deeply into our own expressions of masculinity and learn how we can feel more alive by holding our issues with compassion and heart.

On-going weekly Men's Groups.

Meetings are held on Monday and Tuesday evenings.

Facilitator:

Rob Schene is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and certified group facilitator. He has been running men's groups since 2010. Rob had the growthful opportunity to co-lead men's groups for his first few years with his close friend and colleague Jordan Wolfe. The co-leadership relationship taught them both a great deal about each other, as well as the intimacy and power dynamics between men. Rob has also run groups as a wilderness field guide in Utah and residential counselor in SF. His wisdom comes from seeing deep meaning through metaphor, mindfulness and physical expression. He is passionate about exploring what it means to be an awake and alive man and finds his aliveness journeying in relationships and nature. See more at http://www.robschene.com .

The San Francisco Men's Group Weekly Meetup

Needs a location

$60.00

We are going to be addressing a variety of issues that Men typically face in their lives. Common issues in the group are loneliness, anger, grief, depression, anxiety, sexuality and relationship and career challenges. You can anticipate learning how to more effectively communicate with others and deepen your capacity to understand yourself as well as your relationships. Not only will we be supporting each other in the lives we lead, we will also be learning from each other as we embark on the important task of staying connected. Too many men in our world don't have a space to connect deeply with others. "It is terribly important for a man to have some way to continue throughout his life working and playing with male companions who earnestly try to develop personal as well as collective soul. Without some sense of genuine group, too easily the individual man falls asleep or gives up. The history of men, of animals, and of learning has to do with groups, with common effort. A man can risk more exploration of his potentials and of his grandiosity--he can risk more encounters with grandeur--when connected to other men who can reduce him when necessary and encourage him when needed." -Michael Meade There are three separate groups being held now, two on Monday evening and another on Tuesday.
