Let's hope that the rain is done for a while and take a walk on the west side along the Polo field and a couple of lovely little lakes. Meet me in the parking lot of the Angler's Club/Flycasting Pools. If the gates are closed, park out on the street (JFK) by the Bison enclosure and walk into the parking lot.
NEW! Wise Women’s Health Group: "Doing It for Ourselves" (DIFO) Monday early evenings starting June 3 Bob Ross LGBT Senior Center, 65 Laguna St. DIFO is a health education and support group for older lesbian, bisexual, and queer women 50 years or older. Participants set their own health goals and learn about healthier nutrition, physical activity, reducing stress, and aging as sexual minority women in a supportive environment. Over 150 women have participated in a DIFO group in the past five years and most find the sense of community and tools for healthier living to be personally beneficial. This 8-week series is open to new and past participants and will be facilitated by Jana Rickerson. Dinner will be provided. For info and to register, please contact Ariel Mellinger at (415)[masked] or [masked]. Please do not rsvp to the meetup site.
Hi Everyone, The weather will be gorgeous this Saturday, with more and more blooms to enjoy in Golden Gate Park. Come hang out with other lesbian and bisexual women, make new friends, greet old ones, and get some exercise! Janet will be leading this week’s walk, and afterwards those who want to prolong the fun will walk to Pacific Grill for lunch before returning to our starting point. Last Saturday 17 of us showed up to celebrate our third anniversary and welcome our founder, Michelle, back to our walking community — a great beginning to our 4th year. As always, we gather at 11 a.m. every Saturday in front of the Conservatory of Flowers. Walks are level and last about 90 minutes, and are wheelchair-accessible. Dogs and kids are welcome to join us. There is parking available on Conservatory Drive (East and West). Conservatory Drive surrounds the back of the Conservatory of Flowers and turns just before and after the Conservatory grounds from John F. Kennedy Drive. JFK Drive comes into the park from Stanyon (stay right). The purpose of the San Francisco Walking Dykes is: to build community for lesbians in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area while promoting health and wellness. We welcome lesbians from every "walk of life" and aim to build friendships, provide support to one another, celebrate our differences and diversity while always recognizing our fundamental unity and humanity.
