Gallery Reception and Exhibition: Greta Anderson

Details
Come meet TechShop SF Artist in Residence Greta Anderson at the opening of her show exhibition. Enjoy an evening of art, music, and drinks as we open our doors to the public!
Greta Liz Anderson's work are (dys)functional structures aiming to alter how individuals perceive their surroundings, and themselves. Her approach of construction through deconstruction explores the dialog between functionality vs. unfunctionality. It creates an ambiguous fictional parallel realm that (re)constructs interactions within a specific social practice setting. It is seen as a tool for transcendence, as well as an introspective, and extrospective approach the self, and the other. Viewers are encouraged to maneuver their bodies to activate the sculptures, or vice versa.
Greta Liz Anderson is a surreal artist. She is a Paraguayan New Yorker, and now lives in San Francisco. She pursued her passion for art by studying at BOCES Cultural Arts Center, Nassau Community College, Fashion Institute of Technology, and is currently is a MFA candidate at San Francisco Arts Institute, and Artist in Residence at TechShop. Her work has been featured in a number of exhibitions, as well as public installations throughout New York City, Miami, San Francisco, and Paraguay, including the fabrication and installation of a site specific sculpture at Art Basel, Miami, 2012/2013.
