What we're about

We have many amazing small theatres right in our own town!

Please sign up for an upcoming show at our specially arranged ticket price, & we'll be in the lobby to welcome each of you on the night!

We support the best little independent theatres and also attend the bigger more well known theatres. Our friendly group comes together in the lobby to mingle before the show, or maybe meet for dinner. You can even take your drinks into the show oftentimes! We’ll usually sit as a group and have a have a post show chat - sometimes wth memers of the cast.

- No Theatre experience or savvy knowledge required! First timers are most welcome:)

- Non-profit group
Our objective is to provide a fun and enjoyable social theatre experience. Independent Theatre has very little funding and most performers and theatre venues operate at a loss or break even. This is also true of our group, we have some overhead costs, plus countless volunteer hours by our hosts. We pass along the best discount we can in our ticket prices.

- All ages/backgrounds/nationalities/sydneysiders/travellers/friends/singles & couples are all most welcome to join our events.

We have several shows per month on all different nights to suit different availablties. We attend a wide variety from drama to comedy, traditional to modern & also musicals. Suggestions are always welcome.

We look forward to showing you Sydney’s Fantastic Theatre scene!

Bryon & Maggy

Note: 7 DAY or more advance purchase of tickets is often required to ensure our group seats are reserved. So please Sign up Early, and put the date in your planner:) If you missed out on group tickets, you can always buy direct from the venue box office for a little more money and booking fee, and come join us.

GUARDS AT THE TAJ
By Rajiv Joseph

Riverside Theatres have now said the event is postponed till next February.

An exploration of beauty and power, autocracy and resistance, and conflicting loyalties. Featuring a heartbreakingly funny and relatable friendship tested, and broken, by extreme and brutal circumstances.

Humayun and Babur are best friends, and guards in Hindustani ruler Shah Jahan’s Imperial Army. They bicker, reminisce about jungle escapades, and have the dubious privilege of standing guard over the Taj Mahal, Shah Jahan’s epic tribute to his dead wife, the night before it is revealed to the world as the most potent and powerful personification of beauty.

Humayun, sternly loyal second generation civil servant, is content to follow orders, even when the Emperor, determined that no object more beautiful than the Taj Mahal should ever be built again, has the guards carry out a horrifying task. But sensitive Babur, an imaginative inventor, can only come to terms with the destruction of beauty if he exacts his own powerful vengeance.

THREE WINTERS GREEN

Fringe HQ

THREE WINTERS GREEN
Written by by Campion Decent
Directed by Les Solomon

The play follows eight people through three years of their lives. From school through to drag; from dreams on a coach through to reality in a city; from alcohol through to realisation, each character is on a journey quite separate and yet eventually interlinked by a crisis of epidemic proportions.
Lives are changed, ambitions thwarted, boundaries redefined and a common goal forged between a group of people who have each travelled a separate path to this shared moment in their histories.

Brought to you by the group who gave us Fag Stag, The Shape of Things and One Day Of The Year...

Please purchase your own tickets via the link below and ONLY AFTER YOU HAVE PURCHASED your ticket RSVP Yes

WHEREEVER SHE WANDERS

SBW Stables Theatre

WHEREEVER SHE WANDERS
By Kendall Feaver
Director Tessa Leong

At one of Australia’s oldest residential colleges, scandal is rare. Or, scandal that reaches the outside world anyway. Behind closed mahogany doors, there’s always quiet money to mop up the mess.

Writing the cheques this year is Jo Mulligan, the first female Master in the college’s hundred-year history. And for Nikki Gonçalves—student resident and aspiring journalist— this is a time for hope, for change, for reform…

That all changes when a serious allegation is made against a fellow resident. For Jo, it’s a case of boys will be boys. For Nikki, it’s yet another symptom of rape culture rearing its ugly head on campus. In 2021, the play has only become more prescient. Online, there are no rules: social media is polarising political discussion, comments sections are as concrete as they are chaotic, and many vulnerable people are getting caught in the crossfire of a debate raging out of any one person’s control.

Please purchase your own ticket via the link below and only AFTER you have actually purchased your ticket then RSVP Yes.

Set in Singapore in the 90s, 3 Fat Virgins Unassembled is a blistering satire about women in impossible situations, judged by equally impossible standards. Slanted Theatre poses the questions: have things changed for women after 30 years? Are our struggles the same?

Do the women of today have a different story to tell?
